Inspection stickers etc, cmon man y’all ain’t setting up there because the paperwork would be overwhelming
You are leaving out the biggest reason. There is no money to be made.

It was built straight through the division of the city so this was somewhat of a real issue back in the day
Scotlandville was really the only majority black area in BR back then

how race played a part in the building of Interstate 110 through Baton Rouge and remains a symbol of racism, because it was built through communities of color, dividing neighborhoods
90% of is in the goddamn air, you can drive right under it. How is that dividing anyone?

It was an issue you stupid frick. It shouldn't be anymore. This whole community and police leaders, meeting up to talk about it, is nothing more than some bullshite the mayor probably put together to make it look like they are taking some type of action.
I am not trying to justify the meeting, I am just saying.. It use to be an issue when they built the interstate. Baton Rouge has shifted a lot since then so it shouldn't even be a thing now... But pick up a fricking book you jackass and learn something.
Stick to cooking, that might be the only thing you know anything about.

I’d be shocked if these idiots actually decided something wasn’t racist besides actual racism.

The area was mostly white when it was built you slack jawed moron.
You know nothing. If your ideas were a baby i’d Throw them off of a cliff after the mistake of their birth.

I-110 was built through a white are of NBR.
I remember watching it being built from my parents backyard and the area was white.
We use to watch drunks drive off I-110’when it ended at Hollywood drive.
This area was the Istrouma area which was white.
Plank Road, Hollywood, Hollywood Elementary, Evangeline, Scenic Hwy was a white middle class area.
Atleast they need to get their history correct.
The only African American area was Scotlandville.

It's funny because I really get to you. You really take this shite serious.
But South Baton Rouge (as in south of the interstate) was majority black. Stop trying, you have no idea what you are talking about.

Well the pavement is black, that pisses me off.
Why can't it be white
Racist shite right there

Yep. My grandfather went to Istrouma and they lived off of Hollywood when my dad was a kid. It was a bunch of white plant baws and working class. Like I said earlier, Scotlandville was the major majority black area.

They said the same thing about interstate 35 through downtown Austin. In that case, they were right. The former East Avenue that the freeway overlaid was the divider chosen by the government to segregate the races.
Dallas claimed that old US 75 running south out of downtown (S.M. Wright Freeway) devastated the black community when it was finished in 1956, but more whites lived in that area at the time. That one is revisionist history.
So they are tearing it down and making it at-grade with traffic signals. All those speeding hoopties with wagon wheels are going to be very disappointed, so it will end up being a net negative to current black Dallasites.

That's some dumb shite. My dad lived in one of the houses that were demolished on Hollywood Street. That was all white back then.

You lived right there? You may know my dad's family. They moved over to America street after that. He graduated Brhs in 59.

All anyone needs to do is query the open br data portal and look for matching/repeating addresses.
In my district it's no secret 1100 Lee drive is a checkpoint. Sort the districts in NBR by street address and you can find em.

My grandfather was raised across from Dominique's Stockyard by the old bridge. When he got married they moved to Hollywood and when my dad was 7-8 they moved to Central to be near my grandmother's family. I'm well aware of that area's history.
There were still plenty of white people in the area in the 80s. We used to go to the Plank/Hollywood area all of the time when I was a kid.

DUI checkpoints are still a thing? I used to see them on here all the time 7-9 years ago. Haven’t heard of one in a long time.

I'm not sure Paul. I'm rarely out past 10pm anymore unless I'm going to or coming from work. I've actually never been through one but it's pretty amazing that I never got a DUI from about my late teens through my early 30s.
Not something I'm particularly proud of now.
It's not like we had access to Uber then and the cab service was a joke.

You know, if everyone, regardless of color, religious affiliation, age, gender, or economic status, accepted responsibility for his/her own actions all this bullshite would be exposed for being what it is.... Bullshite.
I’m so sick and tired of being blamed for another persons shortcomings. The flipping interstate is to blame now?? An inanimate object is racist?? At this meeting, was there not one person who stood up and said “are we really blaming a section of road now?”
The sherif didn’t go because he knew it would be a shite show.
