Those nets should be going down wayyyy farther than that.

Looks like the nets go the entire length of the slide.

A priest spokesman for the family said the boy was 10. The dad is a lawmaker in Kansas as well.

Aren't they supposed to weigh the riders before allowing them on? Noah's Ark had a ride that my daughter missed the weight and wouldn't let her on.

Picture posted on Twitter from overhead helicopter shot from local news.

Appears to show a huge amount of blood in the water at the bottom. It's pretty disturbing considering.

I know people always throw out "lawsuit" with these stories, but I see a huge lawsuit coming.

This slide may not reopen ever again.

Yeah appears to me the "netting" or at least the framework for the netting might have been what killed him

My sources who work at Schlitterbahn are telling me that the boy flew in the air & hit a pipe & his head came off. I can't prove it yet!

Devil's advocate....minimum age restriction with the boy. So where's the responsibility on that?

But that won't really matter if the harnesses were not securing properly.

His head had to come off for that amount of blood to be present in the water.

I'd pity the workers at the bottom that had to see that. And the other riders on his raft too. You just can't erase that from your head.

From Reddit:
quote:

I was walking up to Verrukt right after it happened wondering why everyone was crying. The mom (I'm assuming) was screaming " he's not moving!", talking about her son as people held her back from running up to him. It was very surreal, it felt like a movie. People were throwing around the word decapitated at the park but the mother was pulled away from her son when paramedics arrived, she was concerned about him not moving, not his lack of a head. I feel so terrible for the family.

If the harnesses were malfunctioning, that's really bad.

Looks like there's blood further up the slide, possibly on the net. He must have come out before the bump

Yeah, and if that is where then it would have to be a bad harness malfunction.

Good Morning America video about the opening delays and showing the raft going airborne

Looks like it was initially going to open without any netting.

They added netting later after the airborne problem during testing.
