How in the hell as a bartender do you not know the difference between a "virgin" daiquiri and a regular one?

I would be willing to bet the waitress/waiter didn’t tell them it was a virgin daiquiri

Ok, this is fair and probably the most likely scenario.

I definitely had the former by 12. I got sick once and my dad gave me a half shot of JD. I kept some of it down and I sweat like a stuck pig overnight and felt 100% better the next morning.

I miss that man everyday.

It's one drink... the average 4 year old could handle that better. At 12, I'd have realized the mistake but keep my mouth shut and enjoy it

The kid is in 6th grade. What an absolute soft family.
If this happened to a 4-5 year old, itd be a little different story.

The Tylenol was more dangerous than a few sips of the daiquiri

Alcohol is a depressant not fricking speed.

no one in his family drinks alcohol, so they could not tell if the drink had rum in it.

Found it! Here’s the real reason his heart was racing. His family who is probably very very anti alcohol flipped out and scared the shite out of the kid. Omg my boy has tasted liquor! You’ve got him drunk! Omg omg omg

quote:

The boy was eventually taken to the hospital as his body began to react to the alcohol

Yep, right there! I bet they ran every red light in town trying to get to the hospital in time to have his stomach pumped before he could become an alcoholic and need a new liver.

He was given Tylenol and sent home, according to WJBK. The next day, Mekyle had a hangover, he said.

No, no the frick he didn’t have a fricking hangover from tasting a strawberry daiquiri. Jesus Christ

Why is a 12 year old ordering a virgin anything? Just get your Coke or water.

Money grab by people who love to that sort of thing

After telling his grandmother Yolanda Collins his symptoms, she took a sip

1. Ordering a non alcoholic drink for a kid is trashy as frick. Why not get me Kyle a fricking odouls while you're at it

2. No one knew whaat lcohol tastes like. Sure

3. A couple of sips caused a hospital trip my arse

4. Bet they don't have insurance

5. And wouldn't have left a good tip regardless

If the bartender doesn't often make virgin daiquiris it can be a simple mistake of something he is just used of doing. The kid tasted it, brought it back and they confirmed it did have alcohol.

After he goes back to the table and informs his parents then they take him to the hospital? Really? And his diagnosis sounds more like what happened than an actual diagnosis.

Thats people looking for money. Its actually sad how that comes to people's mind so quick. If I were in that situation as a parent the idea of suing over that wouldn't even come to mind. Bartender made a mistake, it was corrected.. Move on..
