does anyone know why a vinyl top was considered an "upgrade" back then?

Why wouldn't it be?

It cost the factory more than a painted roof.

Like the slapstick and buckets. Seems odd for a Caprice.

Seats are going to be hot in the summer. But, when the EMP's explode, that car will probably keep running.

I live in the Midwest and she will live in a garage. Probably would've not bought it if I still lived down south.
