Precisely. My son graduated with a Civil Engineering degree, then 4 years later bought a house and a Cadillac. Makes around $80k. It ain’t that difficult.
The biggest “housing issue” is that too many kids today think a starter house is a 2,500sf $400k house.

Let me explain it to the feeble and weak this way. If you are queasy with today's situation try being self-employed. I have been self-employed for over 34 years. It is daily combat. The life of a Viking warrior. Life is not fair and is very unforgiving. People that you think are your clients are unforgiving. The market is very competitive & lean. Each day when you rise, you had better act like the third camel walking up the ramp to Noah's ark & it is beginning to rain. In other words move faster, push harder, or else!

I agree. It was the one two punch of Iraq and not the financial crisis per se but specifically the bailout of Goldman Sachs (after they let Lehman brothers fail lol) is when I realized all the bullshite propaganda we got fed about freedom and democracy and capitalism was all a complete lie.

The parting shot of the boomers’ politicians was pulling the kids out of school for two years during COVID in misguided selfish panic. Now we have an entire generation that underperforms at math and reading because the boomers couldn’t handle their own mortality.

No family yet, getting married next year. He’s about to be a certified engineer so his salary will continue to increase. And his fiance is just finishing a PT residency so their combined income will double very soon. But on $80k he was able to buy a decent starter home, a nice car, invest, save for a wedding, and pay his bills without difficulty and no debt outside of the car & house note.
The struggle is not real.
