Yeah exactly. This video shows that being a cop is tough. They don’t make the laws, they just enforce them.
I wish they could show more discretion in this instance before putting the guy under arrest, but you can’t just have some cops saying frick it at the first sign of resistance. It gives resistance more power and their jobs get more dangerous.
This guy just stole your weapon. There is no telling what happens next if you just sit there, and you would be responsible for it.
I’ve always hated cops, and this is one of those instances where I wish they could just leave the guy alone and not give him a DUI. I would pissed as hell too if that happened to me. But once you take a step back and see that they are just doing their jobs, you can see how hard it can be and things change so quickly. The beginning of this video showed just that. Each party was very courteous with one another. Once the arrest happens, things get snafued and dangerous.
Perhaps we may need literal get out of jail free cards, where you still have to go to court and legal proceedings. Like everyone knows, especially black people that you get one instance of being placed under arrest for a non violent crime and that it won’t ruin your life, but you still go through legal process. Like a prepaid expungement.

There was literally a split second between the sound of the taser discharging and the pop pop pop of the pistol. That’s not the result of the officer wanting to shoot a black man, it’s the result ingrained training kicking in and instinctively reacting. When you point and fire a weapon at an officer, they are going to shoot back. They aren’t going to put their heads together and ponder the situation for a few minutes. They are going to neutralize the threat

Its one of those things I'm sure they wish they did too, but at the same time imagine if he's pulling out of the drive thru and runs over a parent+child because he was intoxicated. Not far-fetched considering he couldn't even park properly.
what we need ultimately are LEOs being held accountable for their bad actions and not letting the system protect the bad ones which makes it harder for the good ones.

Yeah, let’s look at things practically and not pretend that all cops will be have in a perfectly rational way. Cops got tasers issued because people were afraid they would just go straight to their gun. If you take away the taser, they are left with the gun.

What happens if he incapacitates the officer with the taser? That officer is at risk of having his life ended.
There’s no way to argue anything but justified in this particularly case.

IF you see the full video, the guy didn't even remember being asleep in the drive-thru just minutes earlier. He didn't even know he was in Atlanta. He kept saying he was in some other place. He was either drunk and on something else or just completely hammered. Maybe his level of inebriation caused him to do what he did, but sadly, those are the chances you take when you get that inebriated.
