The suspect dictated the levels of force used to eliminate him as a threat to the officers and the community.
He choose to run when the first cuff was applied.
He choose to disregard all the verbal commands to stop.
He choose to physically passively resist when contact was re made by pulling away.
He choose to physically aggress the officers by striking them with his hands and disarming one of the officers tasers.
He choose to fire the stolen taser at the officers as he continued to resist.
The trial lawyers for the accused are going to have an absolute field day with this one in defense of the officers. Asses are going to be handed to anyone trying to prosecute this case or imply wrong doing.
I thought the most interesting part of the full video was the interview prior to and during field sobriety. Lead officers was a total Boy Scout. He literally could not have been more patient, fair, and diplomatic when dealing with a lying obvious drunk on a Friday night during rush hour that was already under siege in some parts by civil unrest.
If I were the lead or charged officer, I would hire my own attorney to start holding press conferences with facts, use of force policy, levels of resistance shown and start handing these political idiots their asses.
This was a very clean shooting. Tragic, but clean.

I would never call be police on anybody that was sleeping in their car. I speak from personal experience here on sleeping in public. I got a very small taste of the vagabond life in San Francisco and I received two “sleeping tickets” for sleeping outside in public one in the Mission District and one in the Embarcadero District. I asked the cop if they’d put a warrant out for my arrest if I didn’t pay it and he said no it just went against my credit score. I laughed and threw the ticket away. Sleeping is a human necessity and the fact that a Black man was murdered over sleeping is a disgrace flat out. That cop was just embarrassed that his taser was taken from him and that he lost the scuffle so he killed that man over it. This crap has to stop you’d have to be a genius to memorize all the names of unarmed Black Americans that have been killed by police. The list is a mile long.
TLDR: Sleeping isn’t a just cause for being killed by police and whoever called the cops is a piece of crap.

If he was the only cop there, sure. There are two cops there though. Just as quickly as the black guy could tase the cop, then go to him, grab his gun and fire, don’t you think the other police officer could’ve laid the black guy down? These are trained police.

Considering multiple sources with knowledge of standard operating procedures and use of deadly force protocols have come out and said it was by the book, I don't think it even makes it to court.

And by sleeping, you mean passed out in physical control of a motor vehicle after operating it on public roadways. I am not even going to explain the threat that driving that impaired presents.

A good amount of time (30 minutes or so) passed from the time he passed out behind the wheel in a fast food line and the time he started fighting with police. Don't ignore what happened during that time. It is quite important.

I have issue with this one. You're ignoring the fact that they tried to tase him (a non-lethal option) and it had no affect on him. He only kept escalating the situation.
