A taser? Isn’t the whole point of a taser is it’s non life threatening?
Not necessarily...folks do die when hit by a taser plus, what if the taser hit the cop in a sensitive area...point is, that should not be something a cop has to have pointed at him to just assume he won't get hurt. Also, what if the cop got tased then lost control of his service revolver to the perp?
There's a lot of assumed risks when you act as the perp did. When he acted like a fool, he assumed room temperature in this case.

n Twitter there are people legitimately saying the police should have let him go after he offered to walk home
I agree that they should have. But that’s not really the point. What happened after he was told he was under arrest is what sealed his fate.
When it comes down to it, youre under arrest for suspicion of DUI. Happens every day in every city. If those laws remain on the books you have to abide by them. I know it sucks, and blacks are not trusting of the legal system, but you simply cannot take matters into your own hands. That kind of behavior is why cops are on edge to begin with.

Inability Of 2 officers to subdue a drunk man that was just sleeping & relinquishing a taser to him was not great policing.
Running him down knowing it would likely end up with your weapon having to have been drawn is iffy at best.
Putting any blame on the officers here shows you should never be Taken seriously

The Mayor needs to step down.
IMO, this is the most appalling part of this whole story.
A mayor of a major city calls for the police chief to step down and the police officers fired before ANY facts are presented.
Just makes all sorts of PREJUDICED opinions and runs with it.
Now, who is the racist here?

Two cops couldn’t subdue a drunk dude without killing him. That’s pretty pathetic
Well in fairness, he took away the non life threatening option himself and limited the cops ability to subdue him.
I wish he didn’t get killed but what are the police supposed to do? Let him go? So now only people that are compliant with police face punishment?
Again, I wish these interactions wouldn’t happen in the first place. I wish the guy wouldn’t have died. But if we don’t allow police to enforce laws, they will either be ineffective or the will not want to do the job.

I agree that they should have
BLM also means allowing them to skate criminal charges at each turn

I mean damn. He stole the taser and tried to turn around and shoot a cop with it?
Posted on 6/14/20 at 1:45 pm to Fun Bunch
It's gotten to a point where even if the dude is shooting at you they complain about killing him. frick being a cop. I wouldn't want to deal with that shite. One wrong move and either the guy kills you or you face charges for killing him.

One thing that the public fail to understand, the person breaking the law has control of the situation then makes a choice. That choice is to comply or resist. Once you choose to resist, that’s it, you’ve given up control. I’m not saying what the cop chooses to do is right or wrong, but just remember, when you break a law, you have a choice to remain in control of the situation.

Tasers are deadly, just not that often.

he took away the non life threatening option, but then was shot dead for wielding the non life threatening option?
I’m in the camp of you play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I feel more for the cops who are going to be put through the ringer for this. There are two cops vs one guy with a one shot taser. I hope their use of force is found to be justified. It’s easy to say what we would’ve done from the sidelines

As a black mother, I shouldn’t have to worry about my son’s well being when he drives drunk, resist arrest, fights cops, steals a taser, and tries to use a taser on an officer.

Only if the victim is black.
I would just pull Street officers out of certain neighborhoods. It's time.

I don’t get it. The guy was super cooperative until he was being cuffed. His actions at that point don’t line up with his actions prior.
Not unusual. In fact, our Defensive Tactics instructors teach that the moment most likely to result in resistance is when the cuffs are being applied.
