Nah. My great uncle road from the late 60s through the 90s, maybe the early 2000s, when he got too old. He’s white all day. Painted himself black every year along with a bunch of other white and black dudes.

Is this the black equivalent of Italians making fun of Italian Americans who eat at Olive Garden?

only good things come from layering incompatible culture on top of incompatible culture.

No shits given. Most outsiders do not understand Mardi Gras New Orleans style.

Zulu has white people in it now?
White people have been riding in Zulu for a very long time. I am almost 60, and white people were riding in Zulu when I was a teenager.

I once rode in Zulu back in the 80’s and I’m white. My friend was good friends with the Morials and their inner circle.
Everyone blackfaced.
Everyone blackfaced.

Oh well it’s been about 35 years since I went to Zulu. I thought it was all black.
Zulu was all black until 1973. It was the first New Orleans area Mardi Gras Krewe to be integrated, as I understand it. I do not know the extent of white membership in the Krewe or how that has changed as time has gone on.

They had to purchase a temporary card allowing it without cancellation.

... question is:
"Will South Africa petition the Zulu parade members to change their name, like the Washington Redskins were forced to change theirs"?

Pictures, not just walking in the parade but wearing black face?
Those idiots shouldn't get my support.
I doubt anyone cares if you support them or not I am just saying. South Africans are upset black people wear black face right? Wait until they find out there are white people in Zulu who wears black face as well. It fits the theme of the krewe and parade, which is honoring the Zulu king.
My whole point is that getting upset about "black face" is dumb. And I saw something about this on twitter the other day where black people not from Louisiana were like "don't judge us based on what they do down there".
I just think its dumb to get upset over anyone wearing black face and without seeing any of these south African accounts, I would bet they are bots. That's what social media has become. A tool to drive a wedge between any two groups they can.

I’ve worn blackface before. I’m white. Would wear it again with no qualms whatsoever. Sticks and stone may break your bones, but blackface will never hurt you.
