They put a rack of these up at the corner Common St and Baronne St by the Pere Marquette last year around Mardi Gras. Someone plowed over the rack with a car literally within the first week and a half of it being operational.
Then they had some across the street in front of the Aloft hotel that lasted for a few months before they ripped them out.

That's ducking retarded. Chicago is one of the most biker cities in the country and Divvy is extremely successful. I can't say for New Orleans.

there was a post on NextDoor the other day for my area (covers Druid HIlls, Candler Park, Lake Claire, VaHi) by someone saying a bike was left at their house by a bike thief. So, the criminals already have their own little "bike share" network. I chuckled.

I’m with this guy. The rental spots will be a big target for the criminal element. They just have to wait for a tourist to show up. And then, while the tourist is trying to rent their bike...BAM! Bye bye wallet, etc.

That doesn’t sound cheap. Then you have to add all of the program’s associated costs: bike maintenance, bike “stations,” pay stations, program management, recovery, insurance, etc.
How much is this program going to cost the city? And would this money not be better spent elsewhere?

what part?s The wheels are not a standard size, the drive is belt driven. What parts on there can be used? Steal the bike just for the handlebars?
