I’ve found that it’s not really the lineman themselves that post stuff for sympathy, it’s mostly their wives that do that.

Yeah, this. I have to say, I've seen lineman (or maybe it's their wives) with stickers on the back of their vehicles with the message "Linemen exist so firefighters can have heroes, too" and such. Every time I see one of these I think it's absurdly over the top.
Yes, nurses are clearly more of attention whores but for some reason linemen think they're on par with the military or something.

Linemen have never been a blip on the attention whore radar. I can’t say I’ve ever seen one post about their job on social media, most don’t post at all.

Truth. Those guys work as swiftly and safely as possible. As do nurses. I don’t have Facebook so I can’t possibly know or care who is inappropriately complaining about which first world problem.
