Virginia taxes are pretty nasty, COL is outrageous in Northern virginia.

Scenery is great, but.... How many people are truly moving to Shenandoah valley or roanoake. Not many. I've enjoyed my time in virginia but I'm not sure about top 3. Why would it be #1?

Or for the "texans" that live there

If Dallas A) was close to any decent beach, mountains or fishable cold water, and B) had even the slightly more mild climate of Atlanta

I'd already be there.

COL is high in Virginia however Virginia has the #1 highest income earning county in the US as well as 4 out of the top 10. Virginia also has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country and one of the highest levels of education. Virginia also has a great selection of in-state colleges: University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, William & Mary, VCU, George Mason, ODU, CNU, etc. There are also a great selection of private schools Washington & Lee and University of Richmond. There are mountains, plains and beaches. You can ski in VA in the winter and there are a ton of outdoor activities all within a short drive of Washington, DC and Richmond, VA. Its location also provides easy access to I-95 and the cities of the north east and states of the deep south.

Our climate is horrible, we are one of the dumbest if not the dumbest states in America, and our football coach is horrible at game management. Im about to pack my bags...

This. If you like boating, fishing, hunting, drinking, eating, ect and doing all of this on a lower-middle class pay check, then why wouldn't Louisiana be a great place? It's all in what you want out of life.

I know to each their own, but I can think of alot nicer states than LA with better weather, less crime, better schools, etc..

But hey if people want to stick around LA for 6-8 Saturdays a year and to shoot some deer, who am I to judge.

Of course I do

Like I said, all my family and friends live here. My kids see their grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc weekly. I have 3 hunting camps and a fishing camp all within a 3 hr drive of my house. I have a great job and own a successful side business. My kids go to a great school. I can keep going if you'd like
