For some, Im sure. But I also think those that dont believe its a great place to live dont appreciate what it offers. Some people have different values and put emphasis on different things.

only place I ever see traffic cops are the HOT and HOV lanes on 66 and 495, and the HOV on 395,

I dont imagine many people get speeding tickets due to it being literally impossible to speed around traffic

Just chalk it up to South La being home--a place you have loved ones and have made memories.

I'm fine with this, I don't care if anyone else thinks south Louisiana is a great place to live.....it's the best place for me

I'd be miserable in most of the more popular places in this thread

Many people in La live near family, that's pretty common among the South in general, I think people are less likely to uproot

The food is delicious

the way of live is slower, not as much stress/pressure with career

cost of living. you can have a 3 bedroom, brand new home, 2 car garage, and do so on 1 income.

hunting/fishing/etc

La offers these things and people who live in La value these things.

I get it

I could never move back though

Weather, education, health and healthcare, traffic safety, social cohesion, crime, etc.

And that poll about Louisianans being the happiest people in the country is bullshite.

Hit this everyday heading into Crystal City from work--alone.

I meant more on the open road. As I said, even I haven't gotten a ticket yet, so there may be something to this. I do light So. Capitol Street up every morning on my way to Anacostia-bolling.

It's great if you don't mind the heat, but hate snow and cold weather.

education

Legit gripe if you don't want to shell out the money for private schools or live in the AP (The Parish of Champions*(Trademark Pending)).

health

Probably has a lot to do with demographics and the fact that we have absolutely delicious food

healthcare

Demographics. My healthcare options are excellent.

traffic safety

legitimate gripe

social cohesion

I fail to see an issue here

crime

legitimate gripe here as well

we have great options for healthcare in Lafayette plus it's 3 hrs from the Houston Med Center

on education my kids are going to a private school no matter where I live so that's not a factor
