A pursuit in Fond du Lac County came to an end when the driver being chased jumped his car over another car.

Saturday morning the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office learned of a traffic stop on Interstate 41 from Wisconsin State Patrol. The state trooper was asking for assistance from Fond du Lac County authorities as the driver had a felony warrant in Kenosha County.

As a deputy and another trooper arrived on scene, the driver fled. Authorities lost sight of the car another deputy saw it driving quickly on I-41 at South Military Road. The driver stopped at the top of the off ramp and reversed to turn north on to South Military Road. The chase was on through a parking lot and South Pioneer Road.

Eventually, the pursuit went back on to I-41. As the driver approached Winnebago Street, he exited the off ramp quickly. The driver lost control and drove off the off ramp into the east side ditch. From there he drove up the embankment on the south side of Winnebago Street and went airborne over the street just as another car was passing underneath. After the car landed on the other side of the embankment it came to a rest in a field.

The driver and other occupant next fled on foot. Deputies caught up with them and successfully took the driver into custody.

The driver is a 44-year-old man from Milwaukee. He was out on a $5,000 signature bond through Kenosha County for operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent. He suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken for treatment by North Fond du Lac Paramedics before being booked in the Fond du Lac County Jail. In Fond du Lac County the driver is being held on charges for fleeing / eluding, 1st degree recklessly endangering safety, felony bail jumping, and resisting / obstructing an officer.

State Patrol also recommends charges of fleeing / eluding, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of marijuana.

The chase lasted about 4.5 miles.
