That's Beryl in a nutshell. She's been a tough one

Looks like a pretty classic strong tropical storm with convection sheared to one side. You’ll see the nhc track tick south at 10 am but Beryl has been riding the northern edge of guidance the last three days.

Woke up this morning expecting to see data with a more concise path prediction. Can't find it. Is there a good link to spaghetti models.

You can go to tropicaltidbits.com and click on current storms (upper left), select the storm you are interested in and it will show you info about that storm.

The homeowners insurance market will likely accomplish this without the need for a law.

Who is going to buy their homes when there is no market to sell them?

How can they afford to move if they can’t sell their homes?

Is this an indication of strength, track, or both

Both, but at this point, most of the higher end scenarios that were on the table yesterday are probably no longer viable.

I am pretty anti government and welfare/handouts. However this is something that I would not have an issue with the US government buying out homeowners. It is the only way for it to happen really.

Dr. Maue with a good observation. However, I'm not sure it matters much because Beryl has to completely rebuild it's inner core. With that said, I do worry that tomorrow we might be talking about how rough Beryl looked before going on an unprecedented run of RI

Not worried from a scientific position but from a "welp, that escalated quickly" position .

Wouldn't be the first time Beryl shocks everyone with its intensification. Hopefully we can avoid a 2nd round of shock.

1) I agree with you only because FEMA exists today. It’s an economic choice: pay a bit now to save more later.
2) think the states should be more active vs federal government in a more ideal world.

So what chance would you give this to happen? I realize this is not a modeled answer and more of an educated guess, but I’m curious your thoughts as you always have a good handle.

Anyone that doesn’t watch that gif and see a Morgan City landfall is living in dreamland.

Don’t pay attention to the cone. Just watch the gif and use your brain.

The way Beryl has behaved I would prepare for it to be stronger then indicated just to be safe.

Meteorologically speaking, very small. It will strengthen b/w now and landfall, but probably nothing too crazy.

The ACOE has played a big part in the coastal situation. The state doesn't have near the funds to move everyone on the coast north. And Fema is the big payer when it comes to storm damage.
