think the states should be more active vs federal government in a more ideal world
The states are relying upon federal grants for buy out programs. It’s often with funding from HUD that comes with strict requirements for benefiting a large number of low to moderate income communities.

I just don’t get how people live south of Highway 90. It’s basically all swamp/marsh and only getting worse with every storm.
People who live in areas farther north should not have to subsidize them with insane insurance rates.

Can Orleans Parish keep every dime of sales tax from tourists? We send more to the state than we keep. See how that works?

The storm is almost due south of Lafayette.
But it is starting to rebuild a central core and do I see an eye starting to reform.

The homeowners insurance market will likely accomplish this without the need for a law.
Did this to me and I'm in Thibodaux. From 1k a year to 8k a year in 4 years is ridiculous, especially with no claims.

Son lives in Rockport. We've been debating whether he needs to stay or leave.

That’s not an eye. The convection is displaced from the center due to the shear.

I am not sure how much moving people off the coast would change the insurance issues but it can't hurt.
It is really about the longterm plan of allowing the river to stop coastal loss and possibly build back coast to acr as a buffer.

Sounds like my relatives in north Louisiana, they get tornados and ice storms but never talk about south Louisiana helping them.
75% of Louisiana's population and tax base lives on or under I10, now who’s subsidizing who?

In Houston and a month ago I spent $2500 rebuilding my back fence that was knocked down during one of the spring storms.
I’m going to be so pissed if it happens again in a 45 day span

Unless he can take shelter in the World-Famous Blue Shed, he should leave.

A staggered board fence with metal poles can really help with them getting blown over.
Privacy while allowing some wind through it.
