You hate it when left or right 20 miles makes this much of a difference.

This coupled with a small wind field are going to piss a lot of people off who prepared when it’s not that bad where they are. Pretty much the entire Texas coast under a hurricane watch but only a small part of that is going to get hurricane conditions.

Dorian felt like 4 years because he slowed to a crawl for most of the time.

Yeah, hard to message "you probably wont be buttfricked, but someone is getting buttfricked. So Id have some lube handy, just in case."

Or maybe not bc I think thats pretty succinct right there.

Hurricane Florence was another one. Developed right off of Africa and lasted almost 3 weeks. Plus the path into North Carolina was locked in almost from the beginning making it feel longer.

Typed like this was straight out of my fingers. Brought a tear to my eye.

If it makes landfall around Corpus almost none of the city will lose power. If it makes landfall in Matagorda County the power outages would be pretty significant south of I-10.

Agreed. Been in the older part of Cypress for 30 years with lots of big trees. Generally, it seems to me with tropical storm force winds or less, power loss isn’t widespread. It’s random trees falling. But we can have lots of flooding, depending of how long it hangs around. They’re saying Beryl should get the hell out pretty quickly. Cat 1 force winds, lots of power out. Cat 2, ain’t nobody, nowhere got any power. I’m hopeful for it being a tropical depression when it gets up here.

Anyone remember Allison. It was a Tropical Storm that hit around Houston and stayed parked over Texas for a few days and then popped back out over the gulf and headed to SELA as a Subtropical storm. Some places in Texas received over 40 inches of rain. SELA got drenched too.

I remember that it rained so much Gouaux Hall flooded at Nicholls while I was student.

Talk of hitting around the Rio Grande Valley. They still have a good bit of farmland in that area. They take water out the Rio for irrigation. Most times they could use a mild storm dumping water. Not flooding, just a fair amount of water.

Beryl still a sheared mess this morning with little convection near the center.

I’m skeptical that it’s still maintains 60mph sustained winds. Maybe in a very small area

Yep. And storms with those winds are away from the center.

Looks like the dry air is filtering in.

I wonder once visible satellite images come out this morning if there is going to be a naked swirl where the center is located.

I said it was gonna look like shite today, and it will bc of the shear. It gets together, and I suspect pretty damn quickly, starting tomorrow morning.

All I know is the absolute last thing Louisiana needs right now is for insurance rates to go up even more absurdly higher than they already have, killing people’s personal and business budgets more so.

When I hear these national news people getting almost giddy over storms like Beryl possibly increasing in intensity it honestly makes me want to drop kick them to somewhere that makes it strike home to them personally and it resonates real good.
