Didn't see this posted yet...
Buoy 42059 was about 35 miles north of the center when Beryl passed about 5 hours ago.
The buoy stopped reporting at 6:10 CDT - I assume damaged/destroyed??
Here are some readings when it went out...72 mph sustained winds gusting to 94 mph and 38 foot seas. And pictures taken by buoy camera (not real great photo size but you get the idea).
ETA - Here it what the buoy looks like under normal conditions

Update, American opened up flight to Miami this evening. Much to my wife's dismay I booked that flight and we will be continuing our honeymoon in Miami
Can we still get video? Wink wink nudge nudge.
You made a good decision. Enjoy Miami. Grab a rental car convertible and drive to the keys if weather permits. Your wife will enjoy the drive. Spend a night there, get some pie, shop a little, and head back to Miami.

How fast is it projected to hit TX/LA/Mex and get out of there. A slow TS can straight frick up Houston from flooding.

My fear as well. A slow moving storm dragging the lakes into my house.

The wife and I stayed at Lennox House in South Beach in Oct. 2018. It had just opened that month after a complete renovation. I would highly recommend and will stay there again when we go back. Plenty of restaraunts within walking distance and they have there own area of beach with complimentary chairs.

Assuming it gets up to Texas, it'll get pulled into that trough and dissipate.
Typical tropical system flooding is there but there aren't alarm bells going off for a major flooding event at this time.

You did the right thing. In 1988, the resorts on the North side of the Jamaica had to be evacuated due to the storm surge of Hurricane Gilbert. I would imagine a shelter in Jamaica would be pretty close to hell on earth.

Ay man, frick that red circle to the right. Somebody else's turn

I’m sincerely not trolling, but trust the experts here over anything I’d find elsewhere on the internet
How fricked is my family that is stuck in the Caymans? My mom said they’ve been unsuccessful in trying to get flights out the past few days and that they’re obviously concerned. She said they got a list of shelters they can go to but they don’t have a vehicle so not sure how that could play out
Anything positive I can tell them?

Any recommendations for Miami hotels?
If you don’t take your Wife to Mar-a-Lago you’re a beta.
But seriously, drive north to Delray, boca, Jupiter…

The models posted here around 9:30 show that but looks like the newest ones have it going more northward. Don’t want it to be a south Louisiana problem

It's not great.
There is some good news. Most of the modeling is taking it over or close enough to Jamacia that the circulation is gonna get disrupted. It'll probably be re-organizing some (though, we're still talking a hurricane at this point).
Locals down there will likely remember Ivan, but it dodged south of Jamacia and was in-tact as it roared into the Caymans.
