On that note, I never realized that my washer and dryer had a "delicates" setting before I got married.

Or at least before we lived together.

My wife and I are opposites on that. I moved out and never looked back when I was 19, so I got plenty domesticated. When I met my wife, I swear I pulled enough lint out of her dryer to knit 4 XL sweaters.

These are funny, but are they really revelations to most people in this day and age?

Practically everyone I know either informally or formally lived with their SO for a couple years before getting married. I think this is more applicable to people who get married at 22-25, which I see far less often these days.

I won't argue about the existence of god since I think that is something that can't be proved either way. I think it is pretty obvious that religion is a human invention and can be very toxic. Your bible wants you to admire a man who is willing to gut his child because god said so. ooooookkkkkkaaaayyyyy.

A woman marries a man thinking he will change. A man marries a woman thinking she won't change.

Even living together beforehand does not fix this.

-How expensive curtains are.

-there are scents that equate to seasons of the year.

-How much women and teenagers really are alike when it comes to emotions and money.

-How the answer to the question, "What are you doing?" is never "nothing" because it triggers some ingrained response from your wife to find something for you to do.

-How much I dream about time alone.

-How much time alone is overrated after about two hours.

-How much I love being at work in order to be alone.

-How stupid i was with money before I had to be the person paying attention to it or it would get all spent on crap not needed.

-How women do things like "haphazardly loading the dishwasher" on purpose because they dont really want to load it and hope you do it.

-How much i could love and hate the same person on the same day.

Between my wife and my daughters I thought we were going to have to put a cloths line in the yard until my wife found out that Hollister has "Long" lengths in their women's jeans.

Problem solved.

Should have known with that clause included, it was going to be hard work. Truth is all married couples periodically experience many, if not all, of the issues already noted. The important thing is to find someone you are willing to work with who is willing to work with you. Marriage is like a job, which is why so many people quit or get fired from it.

Married for 27 years. Experienced a lot of the things mentioned on this board. Been divorced for the last 10. Very peaceful. I can go out when I want to and don't have to answer for it.

Finances got under considerably better control once the divorce was finalized. I will never share another checking, savings, or credit card account with another person again. At least now I know what's coming in and what's going out, and what's left over.

Also, no more nagging. Over the years she went from helping to nurture the relationship to just being emotionally aloof and thinking only of herself. Glad she's gone.
