I think it is people don't want to rush into marriage so quickly now. They want to enjoy their 20s now without having to be so settled down.

Yeah. That’s basically what I’ve done.

I never realized how selfish I was when I would wake up at 4:20am to go to the gym so I could be back in time to help with the kids before I would head to work.

Realizing the errors of my ways, I told my ex that we could swap places and she could work out in the morning. To her credit, my ex proved that she was not selfish because she didn’t go to the gym once.

That was my fault, too.

how much an easily solved problem can be complained about, without actually doing anything to fix said problem.

Neither of these things really sound appealing

This crap is hitting home for me and I'm not even married.

I could see myself feeling the exact same way because I do need space frequently.

This thread is an eye opener. Good stuff.

This.

My wife could teach any college course on child development or anything doing with education.

But she loses her temper when she can't open a bottle or zip top bag. It makes no sense to me.

She's brilliant 95% of the time.

The key is either finding a woman who also needs space/alone time OR one that may not need the space/alone time but is understanding of why YOU need it.

I am off today and have the house to myself all day. I love my husband dearly and love spending time with him....but days like this to myself are pure bliss for me. (and I know my husband feels the same way when he has the house to himself).

Before I got married, the main thing I was worried about was not having my one or two nights a week all to myself, my wife called them "space nights". Once I got married, it wasn't as big of a deal as I was making it out to be in my head. Don't get me wrong, I still miss those alone times, but the trade off has been I seem to do more guy weekends now than when we didn't live together. Now when I want to have a fishing weekend, it's not as big of a deal because we live together and see each other every day

When I worked nights as a nurse my husband got 3 nights every week to himself while I worked all night. I know he loved them. He is happy that I now work a normal M-F day job....but I know he has to miss those 3 nights a week to himself

I never realized I would never again be on time for anything, ever, again. Never again, always late. Never seen anything like it.
