No. Detroit made a huge comeback. The downtown area is incredibly nice now. What they’ve done in the last 10 years is a miracle. There are still large parts of the city that are shite holes tho.

+1

I was there in 2021 and it wasn’t bad. You could see the upswing. Lots of those vacant lots in Brush Park have been used for new housing, and not the section 8 kind. Downtown was nice and surprisingly clean.

You don’t have to travel to do this. What about that big budget shortfall BR has? Guess that doesn’t matter as long as you and your posse can take trips on the taxpayer dime.

Same shite. Different mayor.

Baton Rouge's 3 main problems are crime, terrible public schools, and abysmal traffic

Fix crime and/or schools and I bet the traffic lessens from people being willing to live in the city again instead of the suburbs.

Baton Rouge hasn't seen a new true "skyscraper" (very tall building) built in decades

They haven’t cleaned the ones they have in decades.

Imagine being on the 56th floor of your new BR residential high rise...Breathing that fresh chemical plant air...

This is a work of architecture genius. And the way you can see the new bridge is breath taking.

Well I can’t think of a single other thing he’s done since taking office, so I guess it’s something.

I remember when they (politicians) took frequent
Trips to Austin cause BR was going to be the next that, too. 30 years later and it’s still BR.

I think all this could be accomplished for free via a teams meeting.

Baton Rouge also sent a team to Nashville about 20 years ago to look at their downtown and literally came back with nothing.

nice to hear Det is getting better

Detroit's major new skyscraper is the Hudson's Detroit, a landmark project featuring a 49-story residential/hotel tower and a connected 12-story office/retail building, signifying revitalization with tenants like GM and luxury amenities, aiming to redefine the skyline with its 2027 opening for the tower.
does the hudson's dept store still exist?

That's nowhere near skyscraper height. I think that building is only 12 floors.

Just email a Power Point presentation. Following the example of Nicaragua would be better.

Read a book by Charlie LeDuff
called "American Autopsy".

It was written by a liberal dude (go figure) about the problems with Detroit, what caused them, and the solutions.
He nailed it all, with exception of a few solutions.
Very interesting read.

I am willing to wager if you asked any large company where they would want to open up (with exception of oil or gas), they would pick Detroit 10/10 over Baton Rouge.
