It doesn't matter. You can request an eviction simply stating owner wants his property back. It's why some people sign month-to-month leases so they can evict anytime.

I had to evict a squatter from one of my rentals once before. Went and filed stating I wanted my property back as the reason for the eviction. Never had a lease or even a verbal but it didnt matter. The people left once the 10-day notice was posted thankfully.

I do not do this stuff, so I plead ignorance, but how is this not a trespass with the remedy being city police or sheriff's dept?

If the house being an older one in Sherwood Forest or Broodmoor cost more in repairs than it is worth, sometimes it is better to demo and sell the land.

If you inherited the house it a huge liability.

Choices
Do I sell as is?
Do I fix up and sell getting the same profit as selling as is?
Too many unknowns at this point with a squatter in it.
Then run into having the finances to redo this place, wait until I sell it, and profit.
Do I demo and can I get my demo cost and some profit out of the sale of the land?

I feel like I would've had a very unfortunate fire at the house that I just inherited.

Title Research.

Before a bank or a mortgage company writes a loan for the sale of a property they do Title research. It protects all involved in the sale.

LA eviction process is pretty easy.

So the squatter is a tenant? Seems like it should be more of a trespassing and breaking and entering situation that requires more immediate resolution by the police. What is the reason for the police not chasing people out of the house?

Can’t you just wait until they leave then go in, change the locks, remove all their shite and burn it.

I feel like for fun I would go evict the SOB for this guy. Also sounds like the actual owner of the house is a pussy. Can we just organize a good old fashioned lunch mob to show up on the front yard. The squatter is white so no one will care

These photos, though. Couldn’t pick up the groceries before snapping a pic?

Judging by the pics, especially that ring light, some amateur porn’n has been going down in there.

I bet there’s a 99% chance the smoke alarms are chirping too.

Furthermore, Guerin has filed paperwork tying him to the property, so police told Craven they were unable to assist, saying it was a civil dispute about ownership.

Murphy J. Paul Jr., Chief of Baton Rouge police, has not commented. The police told Craven they could not intervene in a civil dispute, because Guerin had his name on some of the utilities

So let me get this straight. A criminal can just get paperwork done that has your home address and then boom, the police will refuse to do anything when they break into your home?

WTF? lol

BRPD?

Putting utilities in your name to gain possession seems much easier than going through closing huh?

How do the police know who owns the house?

Maybe the girl with the legal paperwork proving she inherited it is the owner. Maybe the LEO's should read them? I am not asking Murphy to read it. He probably cannot.
