NOPD Homicide - Protecting and Serving

quote:

As of Aug. 12, the homicide unit's clearance rate this year stood at 98%, according to NOPD data. In 2022, when New Orleans became the nation's murder capital, NOPD cleared just 43% of its homicide cases.

Hats off to the brothas and sistas holding it down at NOPD Homicide.

Andrew Waldron is one of the greatest to ever put on that uniform. Will help anyone. Glad to see him getting a little attaboy article. Not that he cares about that.

“Clearance rate.” Sounds good until our part-time DA lets them walk. Or one of the clown judges acquits them in a bench trial.

FWIW - the NOLA FBI field office created a squad specifically to help and teach them investigate violent crimes.

So many on this board look down their nose at New Orleans. You should recognize its history and importance. Appreciate its progress against crime, demographic problems it has largely overcome, and its place among the world’s most recognized and celebrated cities. Realize how important it is to this state, instead of pointing out its faults.

It's amazing what cell phones and ring cameras can do to help catch morons. And least do it in front of a news camera and witnesses. You might get people
who understand.

It’s great that they have made this progress. What’s infuriating is the fact they’ve done this indicates it was possible all along. There just wasn’t the will to do it.

Nah…she’s doing red dress run while our cops on the street are closing cases. She can stay distracted while the NOPD takes care of business.

The Netflix documentary series on New Orleans homicide is really good. They have cameras located all over the city.
