The goal in life is not to have fun or be happy, as that’s just not always possible, with so much suffering around us. So if we are wise, we seek meaning. Our primary affirmative way to find meaning is through family , work, spirituality etc. All the social science demonstrates that IS where successful, well- adjusted, agreeable people find true meaning. Family, friends, career, Church, community etc.
Teaching your kid to ride a bike may actually provide more Meaning to your life than banging a hooker, doing a line of coke, or pursuing short-term pleasures. Those things may make you happy in the short term, but they don’t provide you with any meaning and may actually leave you feeling empty and possibly self-loathing.
That said, marrying well, raising your kids properly, having a great career, taking care of yourself physically, taking vacations you enjoy are key. Too many people fall into ruts. It’s human nature.

Whats the alternative? Coming to a message board to post like a champion today. Wait for days end so that you can go to you're overpriced condo alone just to live vicariously while you get blackout drunk for 2 or so hours through an NBA star that you could never live up to?
