Are you using the Endurance? If so, switch to the Purolator Boss. Similar filters with some differences, but the Boss is a solid high-end filter that beats most of the boutique brands. If you are using the orange can of death, literally anything else will be better.

Massive fraud inside the parent company.

No more Fram and a host of other brands they owned.

Fram has been crap for a pretty long time anyway- became low tier when 30 years ago, it was a premium brand- private equity buyout.

The OEM filter is ALWAYS best….unless you have a kit to convert your Motorcraft base to a Cat one, for instance.

Used to be a solid choice, but the quality has really slipped. You have to know what to look for and check every filter.

For a full line filter I recommend Purolator Boss, made in NC by Mann and Hummel, and uses full synthetic media. Wix is making filters in China, Mexico, and the US now, they have also moved to a cellulose blend for media, and many of the filters are coming with lots of the louvers partially or fully closed.

Over 25 years in the design, manufacture, sales, and management of some of the world’s largest equipment brands says otherwise.

What’s your qualification? You Tube? Bob the Oil Guy?

This is like when people tell me “It meets the spec” How in the world would someone know the spec if it’s not published? Best one are the off brand hydraulic oils “Meets JD20C” Yeah, so? JD20C was the spec 40 years ago.

Just go on rock auto and order a case of whatever they have that fits your budget. I think the champ xl ones are great filters and at a good price.

What do you drive? Maybe I can point you in the right direction

I imagine that whatever brand those zippy oil change places use is the worst oil filter brand.
First, they are looking to cut costs and second, their customer base is largely made up of people who have no idea what the importance of oil is to a motor.

Don’t use FRAM. Used to be good way back in the day. No more.

Anyone have an issue with MotorCraft or MobilOne filters? It’s what I use.

And with change intervals getting longer, why cheap out on filters?

OEM, and I never have to think about a warranty issue.

Cat filters are the absolute best on the market.

My apologies for an ignorant question, but what made them such great filters? Is it something you should put on an average daily driver?

There's Wix who also makes selected NAPA and CarQuest filters.

You me?

It stopped being so cut and dry once production started being outsourced out of Japan, US, Germany, Canada, Israel.

In some applications oem is indeed best, in others... Especially when manufacturers are chasing CAFE... It ain't.
