At what point do you step in and tell people how to parent?

Brother’s family was in town this weekend. He has a son who is a freshman in high school and I counted him drinking an average of 5-6 energy drinks a day while they were here. Basically showed up with a box of Red Bull’s and a few Monsters mixed in. Hardly ever saw the kid without one in his hand the whole weekend.

That can’t be healthy, much much caffeine will this kid need to function by the time he’s in his mid 20s.

I realize it’s always a sensitive topic to tell someone how to raise their kids, but geez.

Never. Just don't do it.

You should always tell parents how to parent.

Especially if you don't have kids. Parents always appreciate the feedback.

Never, if your brother thought it was an issue he would have stopped his son at this point.

“Never” is such a simplistic view on the world. Of course there are situations where it is necessary.

You probably should do nothing. IF you feel very strongly about it AND you and your brother have a good relationship, then I think the MOST you could do would just express concern over the amount of caffeine he is consuming. Strictly A HEALTH CONCERN. NOT parenting.

This is the correct answer. An outside, unbiased opinion is always appreciated in matters of parenting.

This here. Just tell the kid he’s old enough. Whether he listens or not is up to him. Not sure why this would be an issue for discussion.

Talk to your brother privately. Maybe he doesn’t know how bad they really are.

In highschool in the 90s, we were taking yellow jackets and ephedra and I’m still around at almost 40.

The kid is gonna be alright
