He is your nephew, just tell him yourself. Just don't do it in a douchey manner.

That's actually the only mostly innocuous part of those drinks.

A freshman in high school is old enough for you to just tell him straight away. There's no need to go to his parents. In fact, tell him in front of his parents. Maybe they need to be shamed a bit.

just show your sibling stories of kids who died from drinking too many of those. won't be hard to find those stories.

There is definitely a point when it comes to family...

He has a son who is a freshman in high school and I counted him drinking an average of 5-6 energy drinks a day while they were here.
This isn't remotely anywhere near that point.

If you want to intervene - make sure you start with a personal problem (similar to it) that you have overcome.

If you don’t have any direct experience, you are like my mother in law and just talking opinion out of your azz.

Don’t waste your breath, almost no one will listen, especially teenagers. They think they are invincible.
I had a friend that was a heavy smoker and I would make comments about how bad they were.He would just laugh and say we all die from something.Few years later he had a heart attack and was diagnosed with lung cancer within about 6 month period. He quit smoking then and he actually recovered from both.Hasn’t touched a cigarette since but his wife still smokes,go figure.
I have several other examples of friends and family members that ignored my advice about their eating habits and they came to a bad end.
I no longer say anything to anybody,They get irritated and don’t listen anyway.

I have a hunch that you don't have kids of your own. Am I right?

At 14-15 years old, a boy is old enough for his uncle to just say "hey dipshit, you're destroying your heart with those nasty drinks. The frick is wrong with you?"

I wouldn't tell your brother how to parent until you learned how to uncle.

There is no setting or time or place where it is going to be taken in a positive way. You're better off talking about them behind their back.
