All over the place as long as you're willing to drive a few hundred miles. You can get crew cab LTZ Z71 for close to $40k.

ETA: One example at $41k and change

Typical GM rebates + dealership rebates are $10k on trucks, sometimes much more

I stopped at All-Star Chevrolet at lunch just to look at replacing my current truck. A 2016 Silverado Crew Cab 4X4 with a decent package (cloth, towing package, 20" wheels) is $43,000 AFTER all rebates and incentives. The sticker is $50,600. I left and appreciated my paid-off 2010 a little more.

It's about negotiating. I bought a 2016 F150 that stickered for $53K (sticker is a number to ignore), but I got it for $37.5K.

Ignore sticker, it's an inflated number with no basis in reality.

True. We bought an 08 LTZ 4x4 Suburban in December of 07. The sticker price was $54,000. We traded in an 04 Suburban that we owned outright and ended up financing $34k over 3 years. That same luxury model is $70+ today.

frick ever buying a new car again. I had a new Jasper engine put in the Suburban last year for under $6000. I will use it as our family outing (we have 4 kids)vehicle until at least 2023. Next vehicle I buy will be 2+ years old.

Which helps demonstrate how ridiculous truck prices are. You know, the point being made in the OP?

Don't need a truck. And my Outback has higher ground clearance than a stock Silverado, is 1,000 lbs lighter, and has all-wheel drive. I got the bigger of the engine options as well.

Its perfect for me.

No you won't. Year old with low miles is about as poor a purchase in the truck game as you can make right now.

Bought a fully loaded 2015 F-150 XLT with <10K miles and got them to put in heated leather seats all for 35K at the end of last year. Sticker for the 2016 model was 52K.

It's only a poor purchase if you don't know how to haggle properly.

When the government refused to bail out the car manufacturers, and they needed to raise the prices to cover their debt. Oh wait!

And you could have bought that 2016 for less than $40k. You save maybe $3k and have a year older vehicle and less warranty to show for it. You didn't do as well as you think you did.

My F-150 is a beast but I went to the dealership the other night to look at the new body styles and the sticker on a crew cab 4x4 king Ranch was like 61 or something ridiculous.

haha I drive it...me and a bunch of lesbians.

Last thing I'm worried about is looking cool in my car. Its an excellent vehicle and will last me a very long time. Also, very safe, has lots of room, and performs incredibly well off-road and in bad weather.

I don't really follow truck prices but how much do low gas prices factor into it?

I would think you could get a much better deal on one when gas is higher.

Find one at a dealership that is a Bonus Tag truck. That rebate will drop the truck an additional $2000. You need to do it today if you find one. Last day of the month and they will probably approve deals today that they otherwise wouldn't.

And bonus tags reset after today. I have a business that does vendor repair work at several dealerships and have a decent knowledge of what they can and can't do.

You would not find a 2016 F-150, which is fully loaded, for less than 45K in the fall of 2015.

This year, maybe.

price reflects fact that all notes are bundled, tranched and sold as securitized assets now, not unlike trash mortgages... dealer gets his money soon as some fool signs up for a 75K King Ranch, dealer or bank sell note to buyer, profit twice... next big bubble...
