I'm truck shopping right now.
The work truck trims are equivalent to what mid-grade trims were in years past and are still relatively reasonably priced.

Accurate.
You can still get a work truck for a reasonable price and it will have AC and automatic, and probably cruise.
I remember when those options made a truck loaded.

Looking at a "tradesmen" trim 3/4 ton dodge right now.
It has cruise, power windows, USB plug on the radio, diesel, 4x4, and is stickered around 45k. You can find them listed for below 40 similarly equipped.
The work truck trims are hardly stripped out beaters like they used to be.
