I own a business that indirectly works at several dealerships, so I am aware of the prices. You can find crew cab 4x4 Z71 with the same package for $38-39 if you pur any effort into it at all.

If they can afford it? nah. I think people these days think they can afford anything they can get a loan for though

Yep. The used car market has become a huge racket. Your best bet is to go new but look for last year's model right around the beginning of fall/end of summer.

ETA: so look for new 2015's as the 2017's are about to roll out.

Ill just buy the used one with 15k miles for like 30k.

No you won't. Year old with low miles is about as poor a purchase in the truck game as you can make right now.

FTR, I bought a brand new Subaru Outback with every single tihng possible on/in it, picked every detail, etc.

The used ones are nearly the same price as the new ones and they can't make enough new ones to keep up with demand, so I got to design and order one just for me from the assembly line in Indiana.

The inside is luxury car nice and the performance is fantastic.

It was something like $37k with 100,000 mile bumper to bumper extended warranty added on.

Cash for Clunkers ruined the car market from crappy amateur craigslist resells all the way up to the dealerships.

Thanks Obama.

Find great deals on lease term returns. They have to follow the maintenance guidelines for the entire lease or pay fine at the end. So you get a normal wear an tear, reasonable mileage, and well maintenanced car/truck for a fraction of the original sticker.

When they realized people would pay for it. The "luxury" truck market is lucrative right now.

Yep, every rich kid is driving a brand new loaded truck now instead of a BMW. Even girls with rich paren't have them.

Buy the model with a reliable engine with 100k + miles and good maintenance records for 10k (cash if you can). Beat the frick out of it for 3/4 years and repeat.

This. Twenty years ago, trucks were insanely basic work vehicles.

This. 4runners are the worst for this I've seen. 2 years old and 35k miles gets you a few grand off sticker at best.

Right around 06 or 07, they made a $10k jump. Then another one around '10. They have been approaching a third $10k jump over the past couple of years. 3/4 and 1-ton trucks are the worst

ive been looking used and I'm probably just going to buy a new 2016 next summer when the 2018s come out. There's 2005-2006 trucks with 150k+ miles selling for $12-15k. If you can buy a 35-40k truck new and sell it after 10 years for $15k that's really not that expensive. Compare that to some $30k cars and after 10 years they aren't worth squat. You can't find a used truck with under 50k miles for much under $30k.

The reality is that cars are lasting longer and with really low interest right now people are okay paying it.

I've been a Chevy/GMC guy my whole life but they just seem to plain on the interior.. The f-150 has become the better looking truck in recent years
