I'm 25 and dating a 30 year old. I don't want kids until I'm 33-35. Is this a lost cause?

She looks like she is in her early 20s. Which means I'm being robbed of cougar status.

This. Also, age 35 is when women begin increasing their odds of seeing complications in both fertility, complications, and developmental issues with their child.

I cannot imagine a state where we legislate the age a person can have a child. The science establishes most of this. If women want to chance children with DS or have them at such an age in life that they cannot care for the child then so be it. Their body, their choice. I’d be bitter for government spending on child care when they know or should have known the consequences of their actions, though (same with male smokers and male drinkers, too).

Waiting til 38-40 for a woman to start trying for a baby is a huge gamble. Plenty of people have kids at that age, but plenty have already aged out of a healthy reproductive system by then, too. If she wants kids, she’s going to be pushing for them a lot sooner than you may be ready.

Not trying to be patronizing, but what makes you so confident that you want to wait exactly 8-10 years before having any kids? You're still pretty young. This is coming from someone fairly young myself (27 year old).

I guess I could never relate to the mindset some people have of having some kind of 5 year plan that involves not only their career, but also marrying and having kids. Life doesn't always work that way from my little bit of experience as an adult.
