Not necessarily true.

If overweight, one can always slim down.

If soft, one can always get more toned.

If poorly dressed, one can always dress better.

If saggin' or wrinkled, one can always purchase procedures that can help defy gravity or elasticity.

I turn 30 this year... my hangovers are hellacious and often, and me and my wife have started stretching and cracking each other on a regular basis...it's happening.

No, retirement can be very good; IF:
- your health is still good
- your SO’s health is good
- your kids are self-sufficient
- your parent’s care is not an issue
- your finances are adequate
- you have somethings in your life that you enjoy

If you can check all/most of those boxes your 60s & 70s (presumably) can be great.

Maybe I’ll consider myself old when I hit 70. We’ll see.

Forgot to add this little nugget. Another poster in this thread mentioned getting glasses in his early 40's. The same thing happened to me. I hated wearing glasses. Not because they look bad but because they get in the way of a lot of the things I enjoy.

Well, about a year ago, my eye doctor said he couldn't improve my vision any further because I had the early onset of cataracts. So, I got cataract lens replacement done at the beginning of this year. I only have to wear my glasses for reading now. I'll never have cataracts when I'm old either. I highly recommend this surgery to anyone with cataract issues.

I'm 64 and don't feel old yet even with the Afib and Type 2. I damn sure don't look my age either.

I'm in better shape than anytime in the years between 25 and 42 & do more active things than ever. Workout 5 days/wk, hike, kayak, wade beaches and flats for miles.

My life changed for the better when I had a very light heart attack at 42. Made me realize I didn't ever want to think of myself as OLD nor feel like I was prior.

When I reached mid 20’s I felt depressed because I was no longer in college, everyone was getting married and settling down, and I could never go back to my awesome teenage/college years. Now that I’m in my low 30’s I feel pretty good about it. For an adult, I’m “young.”

I don't consider myself old and I don't feel old but turning 30 was definitely the first time I felt kind of weird about a birthday. I don't know if I'll ever consider myself old because I can be about as juvenile as I was at 16.

I always found that life after 40 was nothing like life before 40. Women don't look at you the same way. You can one day be "the old man in the club". Been there, done that. I stay young looking by hanging with older guys and acting immature.

39 it was the year that my dad had me and for some reason I always looked at that number is the epitome of middle-age

40 is when you should feel your oats as I did. Enjoy 40 as 48 is worse

30. I figured I was at or past the midpoint of my life at that point, based on family history.

When I started being uncomfortably close in age to the parents of women I've been dating.

I'm in early my 40's so the 1/2 age + 7 is starting to get me some with moms 45 years old. That will make you feel old. In the past couple of years I've dated a couple 28 and 29 year olds with parents in mid forties. And it is really awkward when one had a single mom two years older than me I a met her at dinner. I felt like a heel.

Those are few and far between because the mom would've had to have them at 17 or 18 and my wheel house is 28-34 year old women.

Never felt older or more depraved than that first time I met a dad just about my age.
