I'm actually in the market for a new dentist actually.

Well.. Not really a dentist, but a hygienist who is:

1. Fast.
2. Doesn't try to talk to me, pausing to wait for my answers, while cleaning my teeth.

A dentist is a type of specialty doctor as is an ophthalmologist.

I’d guess when ppl say or hear the word doctor they think of anything from a primary care - to a surgeon and not dental / eye doctor

What do you think I am some anti-dentite?

Next thing you know people will be saying they should have their own schools.

doctor? yes.
Physician? no.
My dentist went through enough school and training to be called Dr. ___

On a different subject, I do call the vet Dr. ____ b/c that's what the clinic staff says. Despite their shirts & merch that say "Real doctors treat more than one species", I like to remind them that their treatment for many issues is to kill the patient.

Many Vets are big on dental work too now.

They seem to do it all.

So tbabino, do you know the answer or have you signed that type of form during your career? If so, what state?

There is certainly a chain of command that we dentists adhere to, and deferring this to a physician is the proper thing to do.

I'm sensitive about a dentist's ability to spell correctly.

There’s never a good time to go to a dentist. I have a dentist appointment today and got too much shite to do. Gonna stick with it though.

Damn, that’s some white people problem type stuff right there

Haven't been in over 10 years. 42 years old, never had a cavity and its a good thing because there's not enough gas or Valium for me to allow someone's hands in my mouth without pulling back nubs. Dentists freak me out more than anything.

I think you mean optometrist. An opthalmologist is an MD that has gone to 4 years of surgical residency to operate on eyes.

Definitely doctors.

If I was inclined to go to med school, I would have been a dentist as opposed to a MD. It seems like most dentists have normal hours, don't deal with as much bullshite and still make great money. All the dentists I know do very well.

I address him as doctor but if I was speaking of him to someone I'd call him my dentist, not my doctor.

My dentist is an all-around awesome guy, btw.
