I am loyal to gas stations that have the thingy that holds the pump so I don't have to stand there holding it. If I stop at one that doesn't have them, I will make a mental note & never return.

I put Shell premium in the MINI probably 99% of the time.

I only use Shell. However, I never sign up for any kind of customer loyalty deal. I don’t want anybody to know my shopping habits.

You better not have a smartphone then. Because if you do.. they know more about you than you consciously do yourself.

If possible I get gas at Costco. I like not having pan handlers asking me for money while I fill up.

I used to play soccer with a kid who lived near me and we would carpool a lot. His dad would go 30 minutes out of the way to find a BP. I figure any money he saved was wasted getting there.

I’ll pay a few cents extra for easier access or if it looks safer

Mostly Shell, but that is partly due to convenience, and partly because we have Shell gas cards for my work car. Near my house they tore down an old BP and a new, nice, clean Shell station was built in its place. I've gotten to know the people that work in there, pumps always work, and it is always well stocked inside. When we're traveling, I just stop when I need it though.

Sam’s Club if I happen to be there, low on gas and their lines are no long. Costco lines are way too long. I’m not waiting for 5 drivers to pump their gas before I can.

I did that back in the 70s and it was probably 15+ drivers in front of me then. Doodoo!

cheapest clean station. Kroger gas when I see it, or Costco.

I will not buy from Citgo unless I have no choice.

Same, I’ll pay an extra fifty cents per fill up to make sure it has the additives to keep my engine clean and make it last as long as possible. I’ve had several automotive professionals tell me that it is a “thing,” not just a gimmick.

correct, and Costco uses 5x lowest acceptable concentration (LAC) or 2X Top Tier quantity of IVD detergents, and typically they're $0.20-0.40/gall less than competitors.

I go wherever they accept Apple Pay. I'm tired of having my card skimmed. Generally Exxon Mobil stations accept Apple Pay. I have noticed Shell and Chevron are finally starting to turn them on as well. For a while Exxon Mobil was the only national brand that consistently accepted it so I defaulted to that generally.

No but I try NOT to use gas from a station where all of the pumps look like the card readers have been pried open with a crowbar. Unfortunately, it is getting harder to find ones that have not. Mostly, the ones that are suspect usually coincide with local demographics.

So it’s taken what, about 10 years to make that $200 windfall I keep hearing about on the radio?
