We’re you tested? I thought I had had the flu until I actually had the flu at age 58, it was horrible, not like a bd cold, bronchitis even pneumonia, the body aches were almost unbearable, coughed so hard I think I cracked a rib, chills/fever,. I’m afraid if I got it now at 67 it might kill me, literally.

I know one person who got Guillane Barre from the shot. One person out of everyone I know, and that was enough for me to never get the shot.

Don’t need the flu shot, I already had the flu, one of the first to get it. I did my job and passed it on

Hell no. That flu shot is nothing but bad news. At best it is damn near worthless.

Never got a flu shot, never got the flu. And honestly, their success rate is pretty shite. The flu mutates and becomes anti-biotic resistant very quickly. You might be innoculated for one strain but totally vulnerable to another. The best thing to do is to try to live a healthy lifestyle to have a strong immune system. If you do get the flu, treat the symptoms and get some sleep.

Ummm.....antibiotics will never treat the flu BECAUSE THE FLU IS A VIRUS.

Nurse, just give up. You're fighting a battle you are never going to win unless you are dealing with people in health care.

What chaps my arse is that the unvaccinated perpetuate the spread of it and put others in danger of infection.

I haven't read this thread, and obviously I'll ask the pediatrician but do 7 month olds get flu shots? His next appt isn't until 9 month check up after Thanksgiving so should I make one sooner just for the flu shot?

I think it's 6 months & up, so he should be able to get one now. Call your pediatrician...he may not need to see the doctor to get the flu shot. Sometimes you can make nurse-only appointments for vaccinations and some doctors have flu clinics set up. Baton Rouge Clinic has one set up in a different part of the building from our regular pediatrician's office where you just fill out some paperwork, they pull up your file, and then give you the shot.

When you call, make sure to let them know that this is the first time he would get one just in case they'd rather do it in the office.
