I get pissed when I hear someone had a gun stolen from their vehicle, but I don't allocate blame of gun violence to them. I think it's stupid to leave a gun in an unattended vehicle except in extreme circumstances but it's not criminal. If a dude steals prescription drugs and then ODs it's not the person that had the original prescription's fault.

"He shouldn't have left it in the car."
"She shouldn't have worn that."
"She shouldn't have been jogging at 4:30 in the morning."

Oh man the OT is gonna hate this
Tigerdroppings.com is the one place in the gun universe where people advocate for leaving guns in vehicles
To answer the question: No.
But it is still incredibly reckless to do and puts guns in the hand of our enemies.

People that leave guns in their car aren’t the problem with gun violence but they are really freaking stupid

People should be responsible for their stuff. If you want to keep it, then keep up with it/secure it.
That being said, they shouldn't be held responsible if they leave it somewhere and it gets stolen by another adult.
One last point - if someone leaves a firearm/weapon within reach of a child under 12, and that child harms someone or themselves, that person absolutely should be held responsible.

Are grocery stores that sell candy responsible for fat kids?

I would think the reason most people leave a gun in the car for protection is because they don't have a CC license. If that wasn't an issue and people could CC, they would carry and not leave in car. In most states it's legal to have a gun in your car but illegal to carry without a permit. Again, law abiding citizens getting fricked.
The laws, along with crime, have forced this action.

I’m not sure if I would say they are responsible, but they are dumbasses.
It seems once a week this happens in our area. The thieves only seem to care about two things when pulling door handles or breaking into cars and that’s guns or prescription drugs.
I won’t even leave my work laptop in my car overnight

Responsible? No. Contributing? Eh, maybe but they shouldn’t be held responsible/liable for someone committing a crime then committing an additional crime with their now stolen property.

No, but they are morons and you could make an argument that they aren't responsible gun owners if their vehicle is unlocked and the weapon is unsecured.

No. I don’t understand the desire to put the blame, either partially or completely on everyone else except the shooter

However I do leave a box of 9mm with 4 triple charged black powder rounds in my console in case someone decides to break in. If they shoot one their hand is gone.

No. Responsibility is 100% on the person who owns the finger on the trigger PERIOD

Are gun owners who leave pistols in their car partially responsible for gun violence?
No, the people who commit gun violence are 100% responsible for gun violence.
This war against law abiding citizens needs to stop.

Pretty much no one is advocating for this.

around 25% of car break-ins result in a stolen gun
quote:you can't change the minds of stupid people
gun owners who leave their pistols in their vehicles are partially responsible for gun violence in america.

no, it's the criminal justice system's fault with revolving door criminal justice.
