every once in a while it's unavoidable, ski trips come to mind, but my general rule of thumb is I never check anything I expect to see again

The SW line does get long, but I've never seen their employees lollygagging when it was... I smell some BS..

I haven’t flown southwest in awhile, but in New Orleans, they usually have 4-5 people behind the counter and only 2 people actually helping customers.

Why am I not surprised? Southwest is the cattle call of all airliners, you get what you pay for.

Only fly out of Terminal D at MSY. Never have long lines, check-in, and you’d be a moron not to have pre check by now if you fly at all.

Flying SW out of MSY is always a crapshoot. Sometimes, no lines. Others, you're waiting half an hour. Either way, the TSA line for terminal B is always outrageous. I always feel so bad for the poors without Precheck because that line is never a problem and I always feel guilty as hell when i just breeze on through and they are stuck there smelling stale farts and people's bad decisions from the night before on bourbon.

Agreed, but packing for long trips isn’t part of the training, people just don’t think rationally when packing for a trip, bring way too much stuff

The problem is when people throw 3 items in the overhead bin instead of putting one in overhead storage and the rest under the seat. If you're in the second half of passengers boarding you frickt

Is this a big problem on SW flights? I've only flown SW a few times and never been on a flight where the overhead bins were full. Never been on a flight period where that happened.

Flight attendants are “professional” travelers as well and look at how many bags most FAs are schlepping around the next time you’re in the airport.

Yep. Personally, I think the fee should be for carry-on luggage and not for checked luggage. This creates an incentive for the massive families going to Disney to check their shite, whereas business travelers and solo travelers willing to pay the fee will opt to carry on.

Putting a fee on checked luggage is why you see families of 7 taking up half the damn plane's overhead space.

You serious? Jesus its insane. They whine on the loudspeaker every single time I fly about people courtesy checking their bags because there won't be enough overhead room. It is a very common issue, and the simple solution would be for them to charge for carry-on and make checked luggage free.

Those extra bags those bags carry aren’t for what they need on the trip, baw. Blee dat.

ETA: most of them are pretty efficient at packing for travel though.
