I flew in from CA yesterday around 4pm and the lines at MSY were absolutely insane. I’ve never seen them like that and it looked like every person in line had 3 suitcases.
The line for SWA was full and then stretched in reverse back to TSA. The curb side check in was just as long.

That's why I said Essence is the worst event in New Orleans. I was talking to a Customer service agent and she was telling me that a few years ago they caught people trying to break their bags getting them off the baggage carousel so the airline would have to replace it.

TSA line for mardi gras was so bad that they had to open up concourse A so people waiting to go through security wouldn't block people trying to check in.

They have bag drop now.
SWA does a great job at MSY.
I fly enough out of MSY to be A list so maybe 25 times a year and I cannot recall a time I felt the Southwest employees were not working hard and with good attitudes.
I park with US Park, travel with only a carry on, TSAPre and most of the time I am at my gate within 15 minutes of parking.

If that’s the case, then you check your bag all the way anyway. Yeah it’s a pain, but it’s better than waiting forever in TSA and baggage check lines. They can be atrocious in some airports so I avoid checking if possible.
And for the person saying something about liquids, go to cvs or Walmart and get travel sized bottles if you don’t have any or like hotel stuff. It’s pretty simple.

It’s purely a SW issue. They don’t have adequate staffing to handle bag check.
It was 40 minutes in the A-List line on a random Thursday in May earlier this year. And that was only because people were nice enough to let those, like me, with earlier flights go ahead.
TSA line was empty so it wasn’t an excessive volume situation.

They’re the worst airport station WN serves.

I’ll settle for simple enforcement of the already established rules.
It cracks me up how entitled people are with their carry on volume.
One time I was forward in a plane against a bulkhead (no under seat storage) on a very tight connection so I didn’t want to get trapped having to go against the crowd to get my stuff.
All fine and good, but I was looked at like I was a complete a-hole for slipping in my backpack on the opposite side of her luggage in rather than let this woman with 4 (one roller and 3 smaller bags in addition to her purse pack) fill up the compartment over her seat and half of the adjacent one.
