The "spikes" have been a 3% increase in positive test percentages nationally over the last three weeks. Average is 13 days from contracting covid-19 to death with some days for reporting at the State level. So, we won't have a real picture IF deaths are actually matching the increases for another two weeks or so.

Hospital data is crap because most places still aren't able to track. Hell they barely know who is dying from covid much less who is hospitalized for it.

Health insurance testing is now coming onboard in greater numbers and the "free" health department testing is also greater. There has been a 50% increase in testing the last three weeks. Average testing number last three weeks 539k Average testing prior 218K daily.

You are also seeing more states going back on deaths and including the "probable" deaths in as they review past death certificates. Yes, there is a long arse CDC explanation of probable.

Did you read the article where the author said the protests actually were a good thing in preventing the spread of the virus? Because so many people were protesting it prompted others that didn’t participate to become even more shut in, and that their extra diligent social distancing more than cancelled out any negative effects of measures not taken by protestors.

If you recall, NYC and Minnesota were initial hot spots. Places with higher initial numbers will have greater herd immunity. The more immunity, the less possibility of new cases. It's not rocket science.

The truth is clearly that if large gatherings cause spread of the virus, then the protests are the largest gatherings by far and thus have contributed to the spread of the virus. There is a large and real push from the media that these are competing public health issues and the protests are either a)Warranted as they are fighting racism which is a bigger public health risk or worse b) not actually contributing to the spread of the virus.

I think you are missing the point. It’s not an either or situation (more tests/testing of asymptomatic vs viruses). The opening of the economy was always going to cause a spike. We were flattening the curve of hospitalizations. We succeeded. Now we see restrictions tightened because of higher case rates. Conservatives point to the logical reasons above and somehow are still labeled as trying to fit their own narrative. They have no control of the narrative. Wake up.
