Every ship has at least two anchors. Contrary to popular belief, it's not the anchor that provides the majority of the holding power but the amount of chain laying on the sea floor that actually does the work

The anchor holds the chain and the chain holds the vessel.

Let's see if the Captain gets off before all the passengers like on that other cruise ship disaster a few years ago.

Not sure a boat that size has an anchor.

They’ve got a couple of power poles on the back instead.

I worked offshore on ships and barges for 20 years. I promise I've seen worse. That would be a walk in the park. I was on a barge during a tropical storm a few years ago and the tug lost power so we were dead in the water, dropped anchor, and waited it out. They evacuated all but 5 of us before the storm.

I rode straight through hurricane Ike on a big ship and that was bad. Look out the window and see sky, then water, then sky. You were walking on the wall, the floor, then opposite wall while walking down the hallway to the room. I've been fortunate to never experience sea sickness and I've been in some rough stuff. I have seen plenty of guys get sea sick though.

Drop Captain Sig on deck and let him take over. He’d get it parked.

The tropical storm we worked for some small company. The crew change took way longer than it was supposed to. We were supposed to be in shallow water by the time the storm came. We'll it was too late. We ended up about 30 miles from where we were suppose to be in Breton Sound if I remember right. Anyway it was a big barge with a helipad and the we watched the waves crash over the helipad a few times as well as saw a water spout come straight through us.The tug couldn't pull us anymore. They called for another one to help but no company was sending a tug into that shite. There was no way they would have been able to connect a tow line anyway.

Going through Ike, we worked for BP. We headed towards Brownsville to miss the storm. We'll during the course someone decided we should just go into Port at Theodore AL. Vessel was too big fir Fourchon. So yeah, we rode ride through the center of that bitch. You could hear the metal creaking on the ship from slamming on the waves. The whole vessel was a ghost town. I went to the bridge and it was just the captain and DO operators up there. They were Norwegian and said they had never seen anything like that before. shite was rolling around everywhere up there. I said frick this, I'm going to my room. It sucked.

Reason #12,476 to not “cruise” on a vessel where Babel would be the correct description of languages spoken by the crew:

2 Pros:

1. That cruise will be cheap now.
2. What's the chances of this happening again in the near future to this exact ship?
