Anyone here using Valvoline Restore and Protect in their vehicles?

If so, what are your thoughts or findings regarding this oil. I am thinking about using it in my Titan 5.6L Endurance engine.

My 5.6 endurance engine only sees mobil 0w40
I'm approaching 230,000, MI
I would add since tuning at 150k, I've driven it like a tard.
This is on 35in tires.
If not careful with the skinny pedal it'll run through all gears without traction.

I bought my truck used. Carfax showed regularoil changes atdealership with 0w20. I switched over to 5w30. Never have used 0w40. Seems to be a big jump from recommended 0w20.
Why did you go with the 0w40? Im in Louisiana so our winters are mild.
I did replace rear differential fluid with 75w140 over the 75w90.

Without knowing brand, you can't reliably state the thickness of any oil. Their rating should always be thought of as... Ish.
0w40 is good for cold starts and resists abuse. Nothing more.
Last three vehicles have gotten it, all were over 250k. Last Nissan was over 360k. Still ran perfectly.
The biggest thing you can do for that engine is install a catch can immediately. It's direct injection and your intake valves will look like shite by this point. It'll simply stop them from getting any worse.
Dumping oil vapor into a direct injection motor is dumb... Which is why all manufacturers do it.

Restore and protect test
As for oil weight, lake speed has done his own tests and referenced numerous other oil analysis tests to show that the larger gap between the “2 numbers” (winter/cold weather weight and operating temp weigh) the more its susceptible to breaking down. Personally in LA, I’m running 5W-30 or 10w-30 amsoil or pensoil ultra platinum despite what GM says for my 2022 Tahoe because we shouldn’t be running such a thing weight oil in these vehicles. In the end, if you change your oil every 3-5k miles or so despite what you run, you give yourself a better chance of longevity than using the calculated oil life inducing the vehicle

I use whatever oil is cheapest.

I mostly just use Trojans for protection in my vehicle.

I would only use the recommended oil suggested by the manufacturer. Depending on driving habits, chage at 3000 or 5000, never longer. Anything else you introduce into the engine will bite you in the arse in the long run.

Seems like good stuff especially for cars that might have had questionable oil service intervals and/or are using excessive oil.
I think if one has been on top of their oil changes and not doing extended intervals it’s probably not necessary.
There are quite a few YouTube videos with compelling reviews.
Now will it fix a worn out engine? Of course not but it appears it can definitely help get rid of sludge and free up piston rings.
Some claim Valvoline actually had to reformulate the additive pack as it was initially too aggressive and was clogging up oil filters.
I think if one has been on top of their oil changes and not doing extended intervals it’s probably not necessary.

Lake Speed, a tribologist, did some testing and was impressed, see below. I have used it on my travel car (470+k miles) and it cleaned the dipstick and got a lot of varnish off the drain plug as well. Used oil analysis numbers are in line with the Mobil 1 extended performance I had been using.
One thing to note is you are considering using it in a truck motor. If you tow with your truck I would try to track down the Restore and Protect shear stability numbers. I have not seen them mentioned anywhere. For a truck or SUV that tows I would want a high shear stability oil like Mobil 1 Truck and SUV.

When younger I knew a coed or two that used Valvoline to tan with. Probably more like old shoe leather by now, nice for Valvoline to introduce a product to market for senior women.

I've been using it for almost two years, 5w30. My car doesn't burn oil and it has 158k miles, 3.7 V6. This oil is supposed to clean the pistons + rings and keep them clean.

I do not ever change the oil. I do change the filters.

10k mile oil changes. 20k mile filter changes.
