re: Shower floor waterproofing sealant?

Check out Tile Coach on YouTube. Almost every video he posts is your exact scenario and he explains how and why this happens. He also usually explains what it will take to fix it but doesn’t show the entire process of redoing the work. That said, between tile coach, bathroom remodeling teacher and home renovision DIY channels, you should have alot of information to fix this.

The white wire is another hot leg on the 220v circuit is what it looks like to me.

Correct, its one of the 2 hot legs.

It's going through the wall without conduit or is there a conduit on there?
I suspect it does since it has a lock nut on it which leads me to believe there's conduit. I likely will clean it up doing this.

Also, what's that little white wire on the right side doing?
If you're referring the white wire running up the right side to the top breaker, thats for my AC condenser.

Does the new breaker box have a comparable amount of room to the current box beside the breakers? Enough room next to the breakers to place a hole?
Per the pictures online, it appears it does and thats what i think i'm going to have to try.
How would you replace this panel to a 200amp 30 space panel when the Romex is coming through the wall into the panel? The issue is I’m limited on horizontal and vertical space and the existing panel is 19in where as the new 30 space panel is 33in. I can’t really go up higher with the new panel as the meter box and service riser pole won’t fit below the soffit at that point so it seems my only option is the drill an new hole in the middle of the new panel to the left of the breakers and feed in that way.

Masonry contractor Metairie

Can anyone recommend a masonry contractor to build a few walls when i close in my carport in the metairie area?
Looking for 3 tickets together for this meet. I can't seem to find any tickets on LSUTix website and would prefer not to pay all the fees on stubhub.

Are you out of space, as in, not able to add more double breakers
im out of space to add anymore breakers but not out of space to add double pole breakers. I think a few double pooe breakers are my best option then the sub panel would be next.

To be clear, I don’t think I need or want to spend on 200amp service right now because the only actual load addition I’m adding is a dishwasher. Everything else stays the same but my goal is get the big appliances on their own breakers and outlets to isolate them. That was the reason for either a sub panel or 2 pole breakers

Adding sub panel

Posted by cberni1 on 10/31/24 at 7:26 am
I want to add a sub panel as I’m out of space on my existing panel and will need to add a few appliances as part of a renovation that technically should be on their own breaker. The existing has 20 slots with 100amp main breaker.

1. Ive been told I need to increase the main breaker on the main panel since code is either 125 or 150. Is there any issue with replacing that 100 amp main breaker whether I add a sub panel or not?
2. If I add a sub panel with 6 or 8 new breakers and only plan to connect electric dryer, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher, is a 60amp breaker suitable to feed that sub panel and if so, what should I increase the main breaker to?

Anything else I should be considering?
The only time I spray something in the intake is to clean any residual dirt off the intake throttle blade if it feels sticky. There may be options to spray down the intake to clean any carbon build up off the valves and cylinders but the MUCH easier option is seafoam, Lucas, etc poured into the gas tank when filling up.

ETA: gosh dang, just looked up what I paid for it. $2406.81 with tax in 2020. New today with tax would be a hair under $4,000

Because you listed those prices, i'd guess i have an idea of how much you want and for that reason....I'm out. I was hoping to snag this pretty cheap because i plan on building one which would cost around 1200-1400 in materials and if i can buy one in that range, i avoid the building part.
I'm in the market for one of this size and live in Metairie. If you figure out how much you want for it, let me know. I agree with others that the logistics of moving this will be the biggest issue with both selling it and the price you're asking for it but i'd still be interested depending on location and cost.

re: Fortified Roofing Grant

Posted by cberni1 on 1/26/24 at 10:32 am
I'm in the contractor selection phase so I am only repeating whats been told to me by a few contractors but what they're initially seeing is that many people assume the grant would cover the entire roof but for alot of people, 10K isn't enough so they are foregoing the grant because they don't want to pay.

That said, the cost will vary based on your current roof. I have 1x slats for my decking so i'd need to pay extra for plywood. My 1300sq ft house is getting quoted around 14K.

re: coolant maintenance on car

Posted by cberni1 on 12/2/23 at 8:30 pm
A couple things to note here. I know a lot of sites will tell you to run the heater on full blast which I’ve never personally understood because coolant is usually flowing through your heater core. There may be some cars that have valves that trigger by the heat setting to allow coolant through the heater core but i don’t believe that’s extremely common. Setting the thermostat to heat is normally only changing the blend door on your system and allowing the fan to pull hot air in the cabin generated from the heater core. The heat setting usually doesn’t control the heater core flow.

Also, refilling you coolant via the resovoir is likely to standard method but isn’t always the best option. Air pockets in the radiator, block, water pump, etc can be common and will make the system run hot under driving load but not necessarily at idle. I’d suggest filling directly in the radiator if you can first and if you can’t, fill via the reservoir idle, then drive around to let the water pump pump faster and attempt to work those air pockets out. You may need to do this a few times to break that air pocket.

Thielen for Derrick Henry

Posted by cberni1 on 10/17/23 at 6:31 pm
I’d be trading Thielen and getting Derrick Henry. 1 pt PPR league 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 flex. I have 3 starting RB I can count on so I don’t know if I NEED Henry but it’s appealing. Thielen has been consistently performing the past 3-4 weeks but I don’t know if this continues through the season. Henry appears to be the only relatively consistent player on titans but even then he’s has his down games.

Flying to NY this weekend

Posted by cberni1 on 9/13/23 at 8:46 pm
Pilots/ATC/ travel guru’s of the travel board, would you fly to LGA this weekend arriving Friday afternoon and departing Sunday afternoon with hurricane lee brushing the coast? I’m supposed to be going for a wedding. I travel for work frequently so I understand delays are just part of traveling but the wind and potential power outages worry me leaving Sunday. Just this past weekend, there were pretty heavy delays leaving NY. Flight aware shows the the last few flights on this route were delayed 1-2 hours so a hurricane can’t help the cause. I have to fly to Germany Tuesday so I really don’t want to be stuck NY.
I average 2 trips a month for work. I used to be dedicated to southwest because I could hit A-list preferred pretty quickly. then after the pandemic, poor performance along with rising costs for their flights made it less of a good option so I had to switch to American.

Unfortunately, what I’ve found since I switched and post pandemic changes is that most major airlines are relying more on tying status to dollars spent than segments flown. It takes more segments now than it used to. Therefore, getting a credit card and spending excessively on it seem to the be the path to higher end status. Sadly, we have to use corporate cards so good status for me seems to be gone.

re: Faulty Home Alarm Sensor?

Posted by cberni1 on 5/30/23 at 6:41 am
I don’t know what system you have or how your door and window sensors are configured but I have frontpoint with wireless sensors that have a small battery in them. When the battery starts to go bad, my sensors start acting odd. Not showing the door has been closed, not showing it’s been opened, showing closed 20 minutes after I shut the door, etc. take the sensor off and change the battery or just call the alarm company and ask what other reasons that would happen.
