I’ve never heard of a car that is designed to consume oil (burn oil). It should be no more than 1 qt per 1000 miles. I’ve read on line, this car has an entire website following, and a lot of people are having oil usage problems. Many are saying Hyundai will probably recalling them soon.
We are having this problem. I just called the dealership, and they said it’s probably under warranty, even though we bought the car used.

It's a hatchback buttplug-looking car from what I recall.

I don't have one but my niece has an ugly yellow Veloster. To make it worse she tried to fast & furious it up with some kind of can attached to the exhaust and fake carbon fiber stickers over the plastic trim. It sounds like a bumble bee stuck in a snuff can when she comes down the road.

I don't think they have had many problems with it though.

I have no input on oil usage but always thought it was weird how instead of offering a 2 door or 4 door configuration they only offer a 3 door, with 1 single on the driver side and 2 doors on the passenger side.

Step son owned one it was a horrible car with nothing but issues. I am so glad he got rid of it saved me from having to work on it every month.

A guy I work w had to have a Hyundai engine replaced under warranty due to high oil consumption. It took about nine months. He was on a engine replacement waiting list w like 75 cars ahead of his.

They should mate it with this:

They could call it the Velosteraptor.

That 2012-2020ish run of Hyundai/Kia engines were awful. I’m hopeful they have it figured out now that they went through that lawsuit hell.

Oil usage can be common with some engines. I know the old 8.1 Chevy engine was good for like a quart every 1000 miles and it said so in the manual.

I was interested in the R-Spec Turbo version but after seeing it in person and talking to another tall driver about his, I decided to move on. I did like the stick shift version over auto though.

Don’t know much about the car.

But Veloster is a cool name for it.

Its kinda a thing with Hyundais engines.

My 2021 Sante Fe burned up oil (4k miles after oil change). Engine locked up, checked the oil.. bone dry.

Brand new engine at 30k miles on Hyundais dime

Thanks for the treat, stupid

No Velostar here, but had issues with my Hyundai Sonata burning oil. My mechanic said get rid of it as quick as you can, so I took it in to Carmax before Christmas and they gave me more than what I thought I should get so I sold it on the spot.

Yet my 2021 Sante Fe went down with same issue. After a few weeks himming and hawing Hyundai replaced the engine.

Put the same damn engine in it again. Im actually ok if Hyundai wants to buy me a new engine every 30k tho, fair play

I have a ‘23 Elantra that’s run very well. Only reason I went with it is because the dealership I bought from has a standard lifetime warranty for anything that oil touches as long as you stay on top of the changes. Guy promised me if the engine went out at a million miles but i stayed on top of the oil changes they’d cover it. Figured that was good enough for me.
