I carry a paper every day I work. We still use them in the hospital.

I had the good ole standard Motorola pager from about 94-96. Then got a cell phone in 1998.
Funny enough, I had a pager issued for when I was on call at my last job last year.

Never a pager. Only the drug dealers had pagers, and they would call back from a pay phone.
Had a prepay cell phone at 17.

Later I got one that people could send messages and thought this was the height of technology.
When we up graded to the message style they only took 10 second voice messages. I started getting voice messages for some guys wife with the wrong number. I got this message, you no good cheating MF. Then a few minutes later new message, I’m throwing all you stuff in the yard. Then a few minutes later, I can’t believe you were F...king my friend. This went on for an hour. I finally called her and told her she had the wrong number after it got boring.

I remember you could get creative with the callback numbers...the country's first texting system available to the general public. Ditched it in 2000 for one of those standard BellSouth Nokia "candy bar" phones.

That was pagers, but who had a first generation beeper? A black box that would just beep, and you had to call the office to see who wanted you
And of course who remembers sitting in tiger stadium and hear the announcer “Dr. Johnson please report to the nearest courtesy phone” and all the jack asses stand up and act like they were Dr Johnson
