Anyone Here Had a Pager?

Had one for work 20 years ago. Memories!
I remember those “911” pages when people really wanted you to call them back, pronto. Only to have them ask something stupid like “where are we going drinking tonight”

Had one maybe JR and SR years of HS and throughout college. I remember giving girls that I met in bars my beeper number
I think I got my first cell phone a few years after college.

I had a pager at my first job. Well before cell phones too. Sometimes took 30 minutes to find a phone to call back.

one of my 9/11 memories, as soon as I walked out of the Pentagon it went off and was my parents trying to get hold of me...

I remember this one guy in my class had one our senior year of college.
We would page him from our dorm room when we knew he was presenting his senior project in class!

The Pentagon or the dorms on LSU’s campus?

Interesting memory. Sort of an overlap. My 911 was a pre-9/11 reference to how people would add “911” to the call back number if it was urgent (which your case obviously was as well).

I did too and carried around two dollars in quarters all day. I remember thinking "I fricking hate this beeper, can't I have any solitude..." I remember just the other day thinking how much I miss the beeper now...

Pagers were going out of style when I was young but my uncle would have one for work. I was always curious how they work.

I've had a cell phone for 32 years, but yeah, I had a pager. State of the art back then .

I had them for work. The first ones would only show a phone number when it beeped. Later I got one that people could send messages and thought this was the height of technology.
I worked for a few years on 24 hour call for oilfield service company. We would of course get beeped when a job came up. All the older hands would tell us young hands about before there were beepers. If they were at home the phone service would call them but if they were out of the house they had to call the service every thirty minutes to check for a job. Said they never got to see a complete movie at the theatre.

I had a pager in the 80's, then I got a bigass Motorola bag phone. Still needed the pager as the phone never left the vehicle.

The first job I had as an attorney the associates traded a beeper weekly similar to call for docs. When the answering service got calls from clients that just got arrested (these were the frequent flyer types) they would beep us and whichever associate had the beeper would head over to the police station to remind them to say nothing and open the case. There were some unlucky attorneys that would get 3-4 calls a week. I carried it one week every 2 months for the first 18 months I worked there and never got a single call.
