Wouldn't you think regularly attending Catholic mass is a requirement for being a good Catholic?

People who go to church twice a year but make sure everyone knows they skipped meat today are frauds.

The whole point of giving up meat for Lent is so that you can brag about how much you sacrificed compared to others

Hell, I love a good peanut butter and jelly sandwich on some fresh sliced bread. Absolutely delicious, with salty chips to offset the sweet? That ain't much of a sacrifice at all. Big glass of ice cold milk?

If you want to sacrifice, don't eat, period.

Yes.

I’m not Catholic. I always feel naked at St. Thomas More events when they do the hand signals with the prayer.

I do... I give up things for lent, but the meat thing is stupid. It's not a sacrifice to have to eat fish in Louisiana.

I don't think I've ever seen that much piety or Catholic devotion in my life

Lent is the only 7 Friday’s of the year I don’t eat at Ruth Chris for lunch.

Beat that sacrifice

Funny how different everyone is. I'm partial to smooth, with grape jelly. But BEGF loves it with the strawberry preserves.

At least we can all agree, eating PB&J, salty chips, and ice cold glass of milk is a HUGE sacrifice. Compared to the rest of the world, it's like we have it really, really bad. God is definitely punching a get out of jail card for you and me.

You can't honestly sit there and tell me that a "stopping to grab a hamburger" is really any sort of sacrifice...sure its less than a seafood platter, but its still violates the Catholic standard of no meat on Fridays during lent. People who justify eating meat on Friday because its "not a seafood platter or boiled crawfish" are missing the point. There are literally dozens of options out there that accomplish both the "sacrifice" aspect and the "no meat" aspect.

Its my personal choice to comply with both. I don't really care what others do and I certainly don't care to brag, I was simply pointing out there are ways to not eat meat that don't involve seafood platters.
