A good sports chiropractor will give you good results, there’s a reason all professional athletes have them, they work.

A chiropractor, however can not fix your back because you’ve been 80lbs overweight for 2 decades

A little Asian chick walked on my back once.

I could hardly walk for a week afterwards.

I've used one several times. Usually takes a couple appointments to get me straighten out. I haven't been back in years though.

They are horseshiat, and most people that claim benefits would have equal or better results with a massage. Others are subject to the placebo effect.

Unless I was at the end of my rope, there is zero chance I would ever step foot into that place. I met a bunch of "Life University" people when I first moved to Atlanta and my apartment was near their campus. Trust me, this didn't feel like living near Harvard.

I love them they work well for me. some people respond better to acupuncture or massage. I have always adjusted or cracked joints, ever since I was a kid it would happen naturally so I am used to it.

Don’t take my word for it. From the horse’s mouth:

quote:

we must have a religious head, one who is the founder, as did Christ, Muhammad, Jo. Smith, Mrs. Eddy, Martin Luther and other who have founded religions. I am the fountain head. I am the founder of chiropractic in its science, in its art, in its philosophy and in its religious phase.

I’ve been to chiropractors that have helped me tremendously. Problem nowadays is most want to put you on a multi month treatment plan.
“So after looking at your X-rays, here is the plan. You come in 3 times a week for 4 months. You can pay this off as you come which would come to $3400 or pay in full today for $2800.”
“Oh i just want to come in as needed”
“We don’t do that. So sign next to the one you want to do”
“No thanks I’m out”

I now go to a physical therapist that does dry needling and exercises instead any type of adjustments. And it’s much better results for me personally. And I can go as needed. They never want me to sign up for a “treatment plan”. They will recommend a plan but I come whenever I need to.

Went to one after a car wreck years ago. Didn't help my back but he did give me great neck brace.

My nephew was born with one of his testicles undescended and my sister took him to a chiropractor who claimed he could fix it when he was still just a little baby! I was so scared for that tiny little boy. Ball didn't drop with whatever treatments (several) the chiro did. Thankfully she gave up on that and got him the surgery. It is stuff like this that make me not trust chiropractors now.

I have come to find out that there are different schools of chiropractics and they teach different philosophy so to speak.

One I used to go to, would barely touch you, the one I go to now really manipulates your spine and neck and I have to say I feel wonderful.

True. We have a chiropractic college in St. Louis and the best ones I've been to went there. They definitely do serious manipulation and know certain moves to get my neck back in. When I requested a certain move from my new guy after my old guy passed said, "Oh that's an old school move", then did it.

This young chiropactor has twice recommended certain stretching exercises because the problem was muscular, not skeletal. The pain was debilitating. He had me on the hook to drain my wallet if he had wanted to, but gave me the right adivce and it worked almost immdeiately. By Day Two of stretching the pain was gone.

The shisters give the good ones a bad name. The lesson is shop around until you find a good one.

In 1988 I wrenched my back moving a scaffold. When I felt the click in my lower back, I knew something was not good. Within 10 mins I could hardly walk. I made it through the night and early morning called a chiropractor located 8 miles from my house. I sidled in there like a crab and walked out basically erect. I saw her 6 times and the back was back at 100%. I’d see one again if necessary.

They will lie and say it’s not true but every chiropractor on the planet couldn’t get in to medical or dental school.

I'd rather take my OxyContin.

jk.

I've had a good experience with a few and not so good with a few. Those that want to see you and "develop" a treatment plan then you come back for some group class (cult initiation) are quacks. Those are the ones that give the profession a bad name imo.

The founder of chiro said that ghosts brought these ideas to him.

Chiros today push a lot of woo, claiming to fix colicky babies, bowel disease, all sorts of stuff from adjustments. Makes no sense. They are trying to sell a product that never makes the patient permanently better.

You aren’t out of alignment, your core muscles just suck and you need a physical therapist.

Ask ER docs and radiologists why they don’t go to chiropractors.

I used to work for the best neurosurgeon in Shreveport, and he said never go to one

The craziest neck mri I ever saw was a woman who’d been prescribed traction by a chiropractor
