I tend to daily my C7 when I'm in town working from the office.
Fairly unique CSB answer to this: My neighbor has a mint condition Model T that he uses as his daily driver. Semi retired attorney with a very short commute to his office.

I pulled one of those for my old boss and put a 12V Cummins in it. It’s was cool AF

in the 90s I knew a guy who did instrumentation work as an independent subcontractor in plants and his work vehicle was a green ‘85 Corvette.
I worked at a place in Houma in the early mid 90s that had a couple furnaces. We had to call a tech out a few times to work on our controllers and he showed up in a blueish green corvette, chances are it was probably the same fella.

I drove my 1970 Chevelle every day in the early 90's to the mid-2000's.

My daily driver is a corolla, it's fine for the highway. This is my around town:

That thing looks perfect!
I enjoy seeing those trucks in good shape like that.
I’d like to have one, but the market for them is crazy.

My youngest son was in the market for a WRX for a year or so but, as he did more research, he ended up selecting a Honda Civic Type R and is totally happy with it. I drove it and really like the handling, the engine function, and it is roomier that expected inside.
I'd probably go with a Honda or maybe a GR Corolla over the current WRX. Subaru really effed up the last refresh IMO. Even if you set aside the question of performance, the car just looks way too big and way too high off the ground. Not a fan of the larger touchscreen, either.

Too big
The weight and the fact it is actually slower than the F90 (non-Comp) is a bigger deal to us. They also apparently are not going to make a Comp version. If both turn out to be the case in the real world the F90 will start to appreciate. Most M cars do but it usually takes more depreciation before it starts.

I have a 14 year old Harley.
I use it to go to work (part time) sometimes, church and to run errand that doesn't require a bunch of hauling ability.
We have a late model SUV and truck so I ride simply for the joy of motorcycling.

I did. In 3 years, I put 50K miles on it. Drove it to NY a couple of times and several other places. Tires were expensive AF and only lasted about 15-20k miles. Once my warranty expired, it seemed like everything started going wrong with it, and I was coming up on replacing brakes and rotors....which cost about $10k. I realized why people don't make those cars their daily drivers. In the end, with prices coming down quickly and inventory going up, I unloaded it. Had a blast with it, though, and don't regret a second of it.
You posted all that to leave out what kind of vehicle it was.

A few years after I got married - I sold the CJ to a buddy and ordered a 2000 TJ.
I was my DD and wife had a car. I used it daily for 17yrs till a lady pulled out in front of me and totalled it at 175k miles. Perfect blend of comfort and simplicity IMHO.
We then bought a used JKUR. It's more comfortable and better riding than the TJ but it feels as big as our F150.
The CJ may not have been as sexy as a toy as most posted here... but was lots of fun.

1997 Tj owned since 1997. 235,000 miles. Trust it more than my wifes Honda.
4" lift 35s, hp 30, ford 8.8 4.88 gears all done myself. 4 linked rear, bilsteins, currie steering, long arms with johnny joints axle end and OEM rubber on frame end. Adjustable everything. Bone stock 4.0L.
Delivered pizzas in it when I was at LSU.

I've got a 2023 G80 M3 (non Competion) as a DD. I'm retired, so it doesn't see a lot of action. I usually just drive it to my part-time job.

That's funny, because I drive a Yukon now and I can tell how much smaller every dimension is on my wife's JK to the centimeter.

It's a 4wd convertible. That might be the best marketing campaign Jeep has never used.

I'd save the 50k and buy a pig nosed m3 comp before this new m5.

Drove an XJ with the inline 6 through college. TJ with the inline 6 for 4 years. Both had over 170k miles when I sold.
Neither of them ever failed to start or left me stranded.

It took me a couple of years to understand the changes to the front end of the M3 and M4's. After seeing a bunch of GT3 M4's up close and personal, I get it now.

Agree 100%.
The 2" longer wheelbase is bad enough, but the wt is the killer.
