Whenever I want to lose weight I just do the following things:
Healthy cereal for breakfast
Turkey sandwich for lunch
Whatever I want for dinner (just don’t be ridiculous)
Drink gallon of water a day
Cardio every day (I go to the track and run)

You should drop some pounds in no time.

i lost like 50 lbs a couple years ago with low carb. don't have any desire to get all the way into ketogenesis

one underrated thing that i believe in is that by decreasing your carbs, your gut bacteria changes and it makes you desire fewer carbs

In the studies I've seen, non-obese people who get on it might have cholesterol problems. The newer studies are all on obese people (who typically eat garbage), and predictably, their numbers got better

The cons are limited choices for eating.

And long-term sustainability

like any diet, there is always a law of diminishing returns.

I don't think keto as a long term diet for me is ideal, but I definitely subscribe to the fact that:

1. You can drop unhealthy weight quick following it.
2. We eat way too much sugar/carbohydrates in our diet.
3. Healthy fats got a bad rap unfairly.

that said, its unnecessary and unenjoyable long term. I think long term its not great for kidney function, you really need to up your potassium, just don't do it by eating bananas

keeping your calories under 2500 and carbs under 100g will likely help you lose weight at a moderate pace. keeping calories under 3000 and carbs under 200g will likely maintain your weight.

Keto can achieve this much quicker, and if you want to power through some fat fast it works.

Do they work? For most people, yes.

Is it the only magical path to weight loss? Absolutely not.

*Depending on height :)

Using an online calculator like IIFYM can help determine what’s right for you based on your height, weight, age, gender, and activity level.

Saying "it raised my cholesterol" doesn't necessarily mean you were less healthy, or at a greater risk for a negative outcome. Most doctors do not measure cholesterol correctly relative to health.

That is an insane way of thinking. Saying the medical profession is wrong to fit your narrative is hilarious.

I’m convinced that it will lead to huge spikes in heart disease and some of these people in about 20 years

It depends on how you hit those macros. If you eat bacon, tons of butter, and lots of calories everyday. It possibly could be unhealthy. But if you eat something like the following:
A cup of unsweetened coffee with a little cream
A couple of boiled eggs
An avocado
Some walnuts
A few olives
Some baked salmon
Some cauliflower
A handful of blackberries
I have a hard time seeing how this an anything but healthy.

Medicine evolves and not all doctors are spun up on the latest. It would be as if an MD born in 1930 and still spewing the same knowledge from when he went to medical school in the 1950’s you can’t say he’s incorrect...
