If you like trash mardi Gras is for you

This is really an inaccurate statement unless you think Mardi Gras is only Bourbon St (where parades don't even pass). Rich people love it and are involved as much as the trash. Tons of money goes into putting on unsponsored parades and the gigantic mansions that line the main part of the New Orleans route on St. Charles are decorated with Mardi Gras flags, lights, etc. (and those are some of the richest people around if you know what that real estate costs).

Anytime you put on something free, there will be trash (like me) there, but the "trash" usually is just there having a great time like everyone else. It is very rare in life to find so many completely different people having so much fun at the same event right next to each other. It's just like a big extended tailgate with great live music, great food, alcohol, awesome visuals and lots of free stuff. I completely understand it not being for some people with the big crowds, challenges maneuvering, etc. But if you don't feel alive at Mardi Gras, something is off. Next to Christmas, I've never seen so many little kids get so excited about something.

I actually don’t want anything to do with Mardi Gras either, but if someone enjoys it I’m not going to be a dick about it.

If you don’t like it, great. Find something you do enjoy and do that instead of starting threads like this.

I loved Mardi Gras when I was a kid. I loved taking my kids to Mardi Gras. I don’t attend anymore.

When I want to remember Mardi Gras in New Orleans, I just get out a bottle of Lysol, pour some out and breathe deeply and remember the day after Mardi Gras and scrubbing down our townhouse in the French Quarter (and our neighbors if they hadn't got back to town yet.)

I think its pretty silly and am glad to be 2,000 miles away from it for the past 5 years or so.

Mardi Gras is more than Tuesday in NOLA. It's a month long festival around the southern state.

Next year go out to Mamou and Houma and Lafayette etc.

It can be fun, but it is overrated.

Jazz Fest is by far the best time in New Orleans.

I like it, just go out and see peeps. Not much different than tailgating imo. You just need a good spot all the friends and family go to.

I lived on St. Charles for a Mardi Gras, and I enjoyed it. That being said, I burned out on it too so I'm not really missing anything this year.
